Re: Classic running

If you have auto base running enabled will that include auto stealing?

Or do you have to steal manually with auto base running enabled?

I am thinking about switching to auto base running, that is why I am asking.

Maybe in RS (down) you click the R3 button?

Or either you hold the RS down longer, and the other option is just a simple flick.

They should have been more clear.

If you could give a scenario of runners on 1st and 2nd and the batter hits a line shot to the gap. I usually just hold down R1 and make them all advance but I too have the problem of sometimes leaving the hitter on 1st in that situation.

It is very confusing and I'm strictly repeating what I believe to be true. I'm not a hard core "Shower" so I'm sure there are plenty of game pro's out there that have this nailed.

Anyway, let's say runners on 1st and 2nd. So the active controls are Triangle ( 2nd base ), O ( 1st base ) and X ( home plate ).

What I know for sure in this scenario is if the batter smacks a base hit I'll hit Triangle and then home plate on the D-Pad. This sends the runner from 2nd at full speed home. I will sometimes over ride the sliding ( I think ) by calling a head first slide to home ( Right Joystick pushed up ). The runners usually end up on 1st and 2nd respectively since I did not advance any runner.

What I'm trying to figure out now is what happens when the above scenario I select the runner on 1st and have him run to 3rd? Will the lead runner continue to home? I'm thinking Yes but so far I've choked in every opportunity to realize this.

Hope that helps.

Re: Classic running

My problem is advancing a runner on second when trying I sacrifice him over. As soon as the bunt is laid down he is heading back to second base. By the time I can get him redirected it's too late. Anyone else seen this?

Re: Classic running

What settings are you playing on?

My runners all advance when a bunt is laid down.

I use assist mode.

Re: Classic running

I use assist as well. Maybe the CPU didn't think my runner could make it.

Re: Classic running

Interesting. Well if it keeps up you can always gamble and send him early by tapping quickly L2. If you miss the bunt, probably thrown out at 3rd.

I rarely bunt a guy to 3rd. Why would you? You can always use contact swing and hit behind the runner.

I'm not saying it's a bad play but curious as to why bunt a runner to 3rd?

Re: Classic running

Yeah, so I made the switch today. After years of using classic, I switched to default. Took me a game to get used to it, but I'm good now. Last straw with classic today was when I CLEARLY and SEPARATELY sent my runner home and sent my batter to second, they BOTH kept doing the same command, and I got screwed out of more runs again. After that happened I immediately switched to default and tried it out. Took me a couple innings to get used to the control scheme, but at least it's RESPONSIVE! And DOES WHAT I WANT IT TO DO! lol. So yeah... default for me.
