So I am convinced that my plasma TV has enough lag to make it impossible for me to hit the fastball unless it is under 91 mph. I have the pitch speed turned all the way down to the minimum and if a pitcher's fastball is over 91 I have to swing as soon as the pitcher throws the ball.
Basically I am always late on fastballs. If I totally guess and swing right away I can get lucky every now and then. I don't have time to tell whether it is a strike or not. Which really sucks because I basically cream pitchers under 91 and can't hit off speed hardly at all.
My question is I am thinking of getting a Sony LED TV. For a comparable size I can get the Sony about a 1000 cheaper than a Samsung. Does anyone have any experience with lag on those?

On another note I must be doing something right because dynamic difficulty has me up to all most legendary.....lol

My current tv is a 50 inch Panasonic Plasma
I am considering Sony 65 inch 4k 900B

If you don't have it on game mode, you'll never be able to hit fastballs. My gaming TV is a plasma and if I don't turn on Game Mode before I play this game, I can't hit or meter pitch. Game mode on no problem though.

I thought plasma TVs are getting discontinued...

Unless you have access to one of those ancient analog tubes, you will suffer some lags, and I think consumer LED/LCD TVs are as bad as they get.

I got Sony Bravia thinking I'd play The Show on it... the biggest mistake of my life as a consumer living in a consumer-oriented society at the epitome of consumerism.

If you hope to play competitively, I think you have few choices other than to go for a low-latency monitor (of computer, gaming kind).

No true. Many of the newer televisions have gaming modes to reduce lag. I have a 65" Samsung that has a gaming mode and have no problem playing this or any other game.

It depends on your sensitivity to lag though. The best The Show experience that I have had was with a CRT TV... there's no lag and it was pure joy to hit with that thing. The issue was that the aspect ratio was not right so the sides of screen were cutoff.

My Bravia does have a gaming mode but it just cannot compete with a BenQ that I use to play right now. Just because a manufacturer calls it a gaming mode doesn't necessarily mean it does it well...

Just saying because I was very disappointed by an LED in the input lag department.

I use a brand new 70" plasma and this game looks and plays amazingly. I don't turn on any sort of game mode. I use sport as it looks the nicest. I have also played the game on a 144hz benq gaming monitor and it plays the same.

Depends on the TV. Some can have lag up near 100ms and some monitors can be as low as 5ms. That is under a frame and you shouldn't notice any input lag.

I switched from playing on my monitor which had pretty good input lag, not the best, to an HDTV that has considerably more lag. You get used to it over time, although I am late on pitches more often this year I have noticed. For instance in CoTW I am missing high fastballs instead of hitting them to the opposite field or fouling them off. Now I am just late.

It's a big issue for a game like The Show since it is so timing based. One person might think the hitting is easy while another might think it is hard. They both might feel differently if they played on the same display with the same lag.

Plasmas have less lag than LED's. I am surprised you have any and since you say you don't have time, it leads me ti believe you need to lower pitch speed. Playing on legend increases it so lowering it will help.

Same here. I have a Samsung PN64D7000 and had it calibrated by Chad Billheimer. No issues at all.

I have gaming mode on. I have been doing some research and some sites are talking about other lag that isn't listed. Like between HDMI ports and other things. I have pitch speed all the way to the bottom. If a pitcher has a 95 mph plus it is impossible. I would love to have someone who is really good at this to come to my house and see if they have an issue.
Most of the people I know won't play The Show because they don't have the patience. My particular plasma supposedly doesn't have that much lag, but, i struggle with The Show and online shooters. Both huge on timing.
I really don't have any issue on any other games.

Curious as to what Bravia TV you have. I have the Sony Bravia 900W and have no issues what so ever. The input lag on this TV is under 19 milliseconds. The picture is also amazing. I can't compare to a monitor because I don't use one, but I couldn't imaging it being much better.

I have a KDL42EX440.

I don't really want to make you feel that you are using a suboptimal environment, but I never really discovered the difference until I actually tried playing The Show with a CRT TV by accident.

Before Bravia, I had a Samsung 32" LCD with which I played The Show... and I never thought I had an input lag. But I was always frustrated as to why it was so difficult for me to turn to fastballs up and in. I was understanding it as, okay, it is for realism, because it is indeed difficult to hit them when you aren't gearing up for them in real life.

Then by accident I played The Show on a CRT for a while when I was moving around and a room that I was renting had that thing... and it was as if I heard sounds for the first time when I was deaf the whole life (or as if I just lost virginity... whichever comparison you prefer).

But I got a Bravia, no CRT is being sold new these days anyways, and I just couldn't get over the difference... with hitting baseball, a dozen milliseconds do make a huge difference.

Given that I was fine before the CRT experience, if you don't feel handicapped with your TV, I don't think it is an issue there. But if you are going for the best gaming experience and shopping around, I think you should be careful with going with consumer TVs basically made for just watching stuff, and not for interacting with visuals on screen like we do with gaming.
