lol yeah he is definitely an amateur but these videos give you a good idea of how MLB The Show should make there commentary and presentation.

Someday I would love to see MLB Network integration for pre and post game shows and in game scoring updates and highlights from other games

That guy actually has a good commentating voice. I know there are a lot of people who want more enthusiastic commentary, but being THAT enthusiastic during the whole game is not realistic and IMO will only make hearing the same lines over and over again more annoying. In real life most commentary lines are spoken very casually except for the key moments or exciting plays. I don't want commentary where mundane plays in non-dramatic moments receive extra flair from pbp. It's baseball not Shakespeare.
What would be good to see is when a big moment or situation occurs, the commentary excitement carries on into the next string of lines rather than instantly fading, I guess like a kind of commentary "momentum".
I definitely agree that MLB Network presentations should be in the game, and I am pretty surprised it hasn't made it in yet in some capacity. Could do a lot of interesting things with it like series previews, weekly highlights, draft coverage, player movement analysis, awards presentations, etc. I know the radio show does some of these things but I'm sure most players would prefer a tv show version.

Yea he's trying too hard and that doesn't at all sound like a broadcast you would actually hear.

That being said. Some think it's easy to record lines and then piece them into the puzzle as the game proceeds.

It's not that easy.



It's real easy for someone to watch one game and record lines for that game specifically. It's not that easy when you have record a lot of generic lines for every team and every game in the league.

This is just my speculation but I think the number 1 reasons SDS sticks with Matt Vasgersian is because he's loyal, likes doing it and works for a fair price. Access is the key. Their play-by-play guy needs to be available every year to record new lines.

I think the commentary is universally disliked by The Show players by now (I am not in that camp) but this is going to be one area where SDS is going to overrule the fans.

My theory is that we all get used to our local play-by-play guy, and that the less The Show's play-by-play guy is like your local guy, the less you like The Show's commentary.

And at the end of the day, if they did get a new guy, there goes all the variety in commentary we do have. It'll be very basic that first year.

Matty V is the least of the commentary problems. Its always been the scripting.

I think a lot of players like Vasgersian, but it is one of those situations where the players that don't are a lot more vocal. There is no one else I'd rather have as the pbp guy (with Gary Thorne a close second) and bringing in someone new would set commentary back at least 3 years in terms of quantity.

That 2nd video of the game highlights with the SportsCenter graphic is incredible, also love how they show the box score at the end. Love it.

Would be great to see something like that in The Show. Long overdue! I like the radio show currently implemented. I actually like it a lot, but visuals are always stronger than audio.

I turn Lyons' and Karros' volume off and just have Vasgersian. Much cleaner and simpler, if a little lonely at times. Most importantly, no long rambles while I'm focusing on the incoming pitch!

Meh. Guy was oky but nothing special. Same mundane as anyone else. Sounded like i was hearing some college kid announcing a softball game to me or a weatherman trying too hard to get noticed lol
