    Tagging the runner at home

The situation was bases loaded with 2 outs. Dropped 3rd strike so I left the catcher at home to tag the runner out. (yeah, brain fart on my end for not just throwing to first) The player on 3rd slides right past my catcher for the go ahead run. My catcher didn't do anything. I know I made a mistake and didn't do something. What did I not do?
    TIA for any suggestions.

**Edit - So allow me to rephrase my question. Is there a button that needs to be pressed to tag a runner at home?

    Cheers!

My catcher was on home. The game played like it wasn't a force out at home. It was weird. I thought there was a button press, something like R2 to tag a runner, but I'm not positive.

Was the catcher stepping on homeplate?

Because pressing x (home) is what I would have done if the game mechanics are the same for all bases.

If the man covering firstbase is off the bag, fields the ball, and in close proximity to first, pressing first base (circle) would automatically have him run towards first base and step on 1st base.

If the man covering secondbase/shortstop is off the bag, fields the ball, and is in close proximity to second, pressing second base (triangle) would have him run towards second base and have him step on 2nd.

And the same goes with third base.

EDIT: With regards to tagging any runners, I have no clue what the button is. I simply push analog stick towards the runner to apply the tag.

Re: Tagging the runner at home

It very well might not make the catcher walk to the plate and step on it simply by pressing X. It may not even work if you walk him over yourself. Little nuances like that are rarely in this game. These type of plays that happen 1 in every 100 games, that require special programming, will not likely be in the game. You have to just bite the bullet and make that throw to 1B.

For example, if you put all runners in motion with the bases loaded, 2 outs, and a full count, even the runner from 3B comes charging down the base line. Even though he is putting himself in the way of certain death, for no reason. (Haven't seen if this was fixed in 16 yet, don't really care if it has been or not).

Or with the bases loaded, less than 2 outs, if you hit a deep fly ball to the outfield, there is no way to advance the two lead runners, while returning the runner back to 1B. The Show is the best sports game on the market, the best video game on the market, in my opinion. But it's still not perfect.

Yep, with the runners on 2nd and 3rd tagged up you would think that sending the runner on 2nd to 3rd using LS UP(aimed at 2nd) and SQUARE would automatically send the runner on third home but instead you end up with 2 runners on third. So unless you are really fast on the sticks the only option is to send the runner on 3rd home.

Don't know why they don't change it so advancing a runner that is behind another will automatically move him as well.

They added tapping L1 to tag up all runners this year.

Yeah but i wouldn't really risk sending the runner from 1st anyway.
But if i wanted to move just the runners on 2nd and 3rd i would have to send each individually.

You could try and L1 tag up and then manually send the guy on first back so that he stays. Not ideal but its less stick work. The defense will be concerned with the guy scoring and the other runner going 2nd->3rd to think about throwing behind your runner at first (hopefully)

To answer OP's question, it sounds like a bug to me. If the catcher is standing on home plate in that situation, to my knowledge, that is the third out. With bases loaded and two out, when there is a dropped third strike stepping on the plate is a force out. You didn't make a mistake at all - that is the smart play. No need to risk a throw to first in that situation.

No you don't. Pressing L1 only sends runners who have tagged. Your runner on first would be half way and would retreat to first while runners on second and third advance after the catch.
