Same story at SS. I find myself always contemplating the likes of Lindor/Seager in the first or Turner/Correa/Bogearts in the 2nd, but there's great value in Russell/Story/Didi/Swanson in the 8th and 9th.
I like how u left out Crawford lmao

First Place, 2 Games Ahead Of The Cubs

The Pirates ended the first month of the season with a two game lead atop the NL Central, certainly thanks to the National League Pitcher of The Month, Justin Verlander.

The theme for the Pirates has been steal bases, score runs, and strike people out. The bench is certainly a weakness, and is sorely missing Whit Merrifield. With Merrifield set to return at the end of the month (hopefully) Kelly Johnson & Eduardo Escobar will have to step it up if they want to continue to play for the big league club.

The starting lineup has been outstanding! Trevor Story, Joc Pederson and Blake Swihart are proving to be the core they were drafted to be. Josh Donaldson hasn't been pushing many runs across the plate, but that is partially due to the top of the lineup slumping.

The bullpen has had its ups and downs, with Ross Stripling on the hot seat. There are rumblings that the Pirates may promote their young flamethrower Koda Glover sometime before June.

Heres a look at the Pirates stats for the first month of the season:

* This franchise is ridiculously enjoyable, thankfully I have had off basically since the game came out, and have played every game. Probably will be slowing down now that baseball season is amongst us.

** Slider adjustments are being made, to temper down mostly on the HR's.

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Glad to see folks playing fantasy franchise again. 17 is amazing. And yes the CPU draft logic is wonky, but if your game to do 30 team control and draft the 25 man for each team....you are a true beast.

But it solves itself after year one just so everyone knows.

I will have a major update today for The Matheny Manifesto now in year two and in the month of May. Lot;s of stories to tell and player news. I look forward to sharing this awesome franchise with all of you again this year in this thread.

I also plan on drafting a new team after OSFM drops employing 30 team control.

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

May 1st = 2 losses

The Pirates were demolished 9-3 against the Reds to open the month. Adding insult to injury, Eduardo Escobar pulled his calf while diving for a grounder up the middle, and will be out for approximately 2 weeks. In his absence utility man Chase d'Arnaud was called up from AA. Organizational depth is being tested early and often it seems. The buccos will look to their Ace Justin Verlander to shut down a potent offense in game 2 of the series

armor, how are you going to handle the draft for 30 team controll. will you draft best player left or have a different system in place?

I am thinking it through right now. I plan on drafting 25 man rosters for each team. So I will make sure each team get's at least 9 starters in the field, 5 SP, and at least one CP and 6-7 RP as well as a utility IF, OF, CI, C and best available after that.

As far as who I pick? Best player available with no bias to let guys drop to my team wherever they may be drafting.

Once the 25 man rosters are drafted (750 players) I will auto pick the remaining 29 teams while I draft for my team.

I am choosing between the following teams for this next fantasy draft (and I probably won't hold it till this summer):

Arizona
Colorado
Tampa
Florida

Basically choosing between the expansion teams ha ha ha. I really would like to give either Colorado or Tampa a World Series run. Both teams have been close but have not taken it over the top. Could be a lot of fun.

Cardinals Winning Despite Some Key Injuries

The Matheny Manifesto Year 2 April Report

May 3rd 2017 - The defending World Series champs came out of the gate in year two quite slow. At one point the team was sitting at 5-9. However things started to roll and The Red Birds have raced to a nice 18-10 record (winning an incredible 13 out of their last 14) after sweeping the slumping Brewers in their first series in May to close out a nice road trip. The Cards head home to face Miami for a 4 game set. This all comes in spite of many injuries to hit the team in April and now in May. To begin, Bryce Harper went down in mid April with a bad head contusion making a diving catch in RF. He had a severe concussion and was out for 3.5 weeks before finally returning to play in the Brewers series. Greg "Birdman" Bird was battling a severe back strain early in the year and then in mid April really turned up the heat. He has cooled down here in the last 5-6 games. 2nd year pitcher Kenta Madea is out for at least 1-2 months with a broken hand. The injury occurred on a blast back up the middle. Madea will be missed. To compound things, in the recent sweep of the Brew Crew the Cardinals lost #3 starter Yordano Ventura to an strained shoulder and he will miss 4 weeks. Then in game 2 of the series RF Ender Inciarte whom has been on a tear and earned the lead off spot tore his ACL on a dive back to first on a pick off. he will be lost the entire season. A huge blow to Ender and the team. 2nd year OF Byron Buxton has been given the reigns to take over with 2nd year prospect Jacob Herzberg also getting some playing time.

Cardinals Current lineup

Buxton/Herzberg - LF
Lindor - SS
Marte - CF
Harper - RF
Bird - 1B
Franco - 3B
Perez - C
Moncada/Holt - 2B
White - DH/3B/1B

Rotation
Salazar
Rodon
Matz
Norris
Fulmer

Betances CP

DL

Ender Inciarte - Out for the season ACL
Yordano Ventura - Shoulder - 4 weeks
Kenta Madea - Broken Hand - 4-6 weeks

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Pirates take the series

After a 9-3 loss to open the series, the Buccos stormed back and won 3 in a row! The bullpen has continued to be an issue, and as a result Ross Strickland is now on waivers, due to being removed from the 40 man roster.

In his place, the young flame thrower Koda Glover has been called up. "Get used to seeing the bear, because we plan on using him early and often" said Clint Hurdle after news of the call-up. The addition of Glover leaves the Pirates without a traditional long man.

Next Up

The Pirates are back home for a weekend series against the Brewers (13-17), a matchup of the 1st place and last place team in the NL Central. After the Brewers, the Pirates will head back on the road for 7 games on the West Coast, before heading back home. Heres a look at the pitching matchups, as well as the Brew Crew's lineup.

GM 1: Patrick Corbin (3-0 4.40) v Aaron Sanchez (3-1 2.34)
GM 2: Tyler Chatwood (2-2 2.63) v Jordan Zimmerman (2-1 1.79)
GM 3: Justin Verlander (5-0 1.98) v Lance Lynn (3-2 1.83)

Brewers Lineup
CF Adam Eaton (L) .290 / 1 hr / 11 rbi
LF Andrew Benintendi (L) .227 / 3 hr / 13 rbi
RF Mookie Betts (R) .287 / 8 hr / 24 rbi
2B Jason Kipnis (L) .276 / 6 hr / 19 rbi
