Cuz holy hell, that way of hitting seems OP as hell right now... People are hitting anything that even grazes the strike zone. I played mlb 16 for a long time, so i know what im doing, and the whole time i played it i used zone hitting, i tried the same thing now, and im struggling getting the ball past the infield even on green swings..

The moment i switched to directional, no1 can throw the ball in the strikezone or its gone.

Also as a side note, contact swing seems OP, if you ever need a hit just use contact swing and not normal swing, contact seems broken right now.

I use directional and I must be rusty as helicopter! I got 1 hit and 15 strikeouts in a 9 inning play now game. Man was I terrible.

I completely agree here. I'm zone plus analog but pitching wise I'm getting RAKED. And I consistently have an era around 2.5 on previous shows .

Balls high out of the strike zone going for home runs. It's outta this world . Wish I had picture proof , but trust me won't take long to find some .

This is interesting. I've always used zone and I'm not hitting well with it so far.

I switched over to directional for my last game about half way through and think I got like 5-6 hits. No home runs though. I was the Indians, and they mash so I don't know if that's a proper evaluation.

I'll try it with a bad hitting team and report back.

What is the key to using directional? I'm not sure the best way to move the analog before swinging with the button. Do you just move it in the direction of the pitch?

I've been experimenting with hitting as well. Used Zone in all the mLB games but this year I am very terrible at it. I switched to analog tonight and did a little better. But on Directional, I was getting very good swings and hits.

So for me right now it's directional as in zone i am terrible.

I use directional hitting with Amor's sliders and it seems to be a bit easier than years past.

Pitching...wow was playing Giants vs Braves . The Shark on the mound and they put 7 runs on me the first inning including 2 bombs.

Pitching is definitely going to be more challenging this year I love it and really hope they don't patch it to make it easier.

I find it extremely doubtful that they randomly made directional hitting better. There's been no focus on that whatsoever and tutorials and in game guides use the same old terminology. Batter stat's are slightly diminished on directional and I doubt they randomly changed that algorithm. The only thing I can think of is their new ball physics is creating more hits in general (over the bags, curving over infielder's heads, diving on outfielders, etc) and directional is seeing the biggest boost. Just a guess. We'll have to see how it plays out over a larger sample size.

Personally I think the easier hitting is more due to the improved ball physics...balls dropping between infield and outfielders etc. etc.

First time playing the show in several years. Prefer analog and zone hitting. Sucked at both last night. Tried directional hitting and was much better.

Im tired of fighting with zone. I find to get good at it you have to play ....... a lot. If you stop playing for a few days its like starting all over. Dont have time for that **** anymore. Might make the leap to directional for good this year.

Directional has always been easier, it's only timing based + ratings.

I've been using Zone and haven't scored less than 5 runs and less than 10 hits so far. Just use whatever is most comfortable for you.

There also seems like an abnormal amount of homeruns coming from high fastballs that are out of the zone and inside on their hands but high, yet they are constantly being slammed, last year i was throwing in on the hands with fastballs a lot, now i gave up like 5-6 homeruns in like 3 games doing that... its insane, anything up in the zone is for sure a no no this year, and directional hitting is king, you can play the game with 1 hand, pretty silly it should be removed as its a joke mechanic and totally not fair.
