I actually wonder how this happens... I don't think I've ever seen a call this bad offline (might have seen once or so...), but I've seen this happen occasionally online.
In a laggy online game, sometimes you and the opponent see games slightly differently due to sync issues, and I'm wondering if this is a case where the opponent actually saw a different pitch (which actually was a ball on his side... might have even warped?) than you saw on your side.

I have gotten heartburn from some of the shennagins they have called strikes and not called strikes.
And you know what? I freaking love that human element. I love they make mistakes and some horrible calls. Because it happens in the The Show for real. I see it nightly.
Also have seen some doozy calls at second base on steals...some horrible calls there too sometimes.Now Playing on PS5:

Your pitch was too deceptive. Ump couldn't follow it.
Either that or the pitch that teleports over home plate doesn't count as a strike, cause that's kinda what looked like happened.
