MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread

Since this is an issue with the game, I thought instead of discussing in the impressions thread, that this should have its own thread for those who are experiencing the issue of framerate drops to discuss and possibly try to provide help to fellow members.

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread

The framerate does feel a bit worse this year. Not as bad as some are reporting, but definitely not as smooth as 18. “Faster” was significantly smoother for me in 18 than the other modes, but not as much this year.

I just noticed on my PS4 Pro that if I set the game to run in “faster” mode (1080p) or “balanced” (1440p), my TV still says it’s running in 4K. Is this a bug?

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread

Good idea with this thread.

I am seeing some definite framerate dips when the ball is in play. Also when batting, it seems that fastballs are perfectly fine. But when a breaking pitch is coming, as it gets closer to the plate and you go to swing, the framerate definitely drops and it just looks very strange. Plus it just makes it harder to hit. As someone in the impressions thread said, it kind of looks like the ball is skipping towards the plate.

It also seems that some parks play a lot smoother than others. I played an inning at Minute Maid and Coors, and the framerate was pretty bad. Playing at Miller Park with the roof closed, pretty darn smooth.

Honestly, this is almost the exact same experience I had with '16. Some parks played smoother than others, and some I didn't even want to play in because the framerate was so bad. It is definitely killing my hype for this game, which is a darn shame as I've been buying the Show every year since '06. Plus, '18 ran so smooth for me on the exact same settings, I really don't get how we can take a step backwards here.

Settings-wise, I am playing with HDR on and in Fast mode. I tried Balanced and Sharper, and the framerate gets worse respectively.

For anyone else experiencing a crappy framerate, under which circumstances, and which visual settings are you using? I hope we get this thing figured out, because from my little time with the game I can tell the gameplay will definitely be a lot of fun. However, this framerate issue is killing me!

Your ps4 pro is set to put out 4k. So even if the game isn't running in 4k mode your tv will still take it as 4k.

Wow! Framerate is terrible! What the heck happened! A noticeable difference. Pitcher and batter was so smooth on 18. Now the ball kinda floats.

Oh no! After picking up 18 for dirt cheap Sunday I was loving the show again and was seriously contemplating getting 19. Think I'll hold off after hearing this, as I play on a regular PS4 slim. Think it'll get a performance patch, or do they not worry about them for this game?

Is the issue only with Pro consoles and 4k or HDR, or does the regular PS4 suffer as well?

I ask because I am using a 2TB SSD From Seagate (I think) and I am usually not connected to the internet and I am not experiencing the problems you all seem to be.
I am using the 1TB hard drive that came with the Pro. And yes, I'm connected to my internet wirelessly.
