Re: HDR on or Off?

So the TV going to a darker phase every once in awhile is normal? I ask cause I've never paid alot of attention to this. I just want to make sure it's normal.

When I bought my TV I went to a forum with TV nerds (i think it was avsforum). They had a good starting point for fine-tuning your TV's color settings. Obviously panel to panel it differs, but gave me a great starting point. Not sure if that plays a part, but if you are getting worse results with HDR on, that might be a place to start.

I have a B7 as well. What settings do you use? I get super nervous about burn in with it so I’m always weary of HDR since normally the panel light is turned up so high for it.

Re: HDR on or Off?

It really is all about your TV. Some do HDR beautifully (the way it was intended), and many do not. If you are shopping for a new TV be sure to read reviews specifically regarding the HDR performance of the model you are interested in.
I did this...and am thrilled with how The Show looks in HDR. The day games especially look extremely realistic. The colors and sunlight are incredible...without any "wash out" effect at all.

Dynamic Contrast does terrible things to SDR content but some TVs have seemingly been designed to need it to process HDR (some Samsungs and LGs for example). I notice very little crushing or blown out whites when it’s set to low but they can rear their head when it’s set to high (plus a tendency for colors to become over saturated). Adjustments can be made to other settings to reduce the processing problems introduced by high Dynamic Contrast and I’ve been fiddling with them since installing The Show 19 since it’s pretty much the only game I use my Game Mode HDR settings on.

Re: HDR on or Off?

If your TV isn’t an HDR tv then it’s probably best to leave it off.

I have a 4K HDR tv and it looks sensational with HDR mode turned on.

The game detects if your tv has HDR. If you don’t then the option is greyed out and you can’t even turn it on.

Re: HDR on or Off?

ok, so after flipping back and forth Ive decided to go with HDR ON.

With HDR off I found it more contrasty and colours a bit more saturated, the darks were dark and the whites were maybe too white, I thought shadows were more pronounced as well.

After re-evaluating with HDR on and turning on 'live' colour to medium the colours are popping more and the skin tones and things like that do look more realistic.

HDR ON does seem to be better after spending more time with it.
