One of the options MLB is considering is a universal DH this year.
If this happens I would love to see Sony add this option for the game. It’s actually something I’ve wanted for years.

i could live with this for this year only. I think though a lot of people will agree with me, but simply put - baseball with a universal DH is not baseball. The baseball the American League plays now, while it has its appeal, is not baseball.

Glad The Show has the option though.
Since I was a child ( a long time ago ) baseball has had the DH with the Tribe, so that's all I know. So to say that's not baseball, that's a stretch since it's been there for something like 50 years. I prefer the DH.
I meant for exhibition mode as well. We can’t currently toggle DH on for that mode.

But having basically an automatic out in the 9 hole is? Pitchers hitting is stupid.
If you paid money to sit in the stands to watch a game would you rather see a guy who is paid to swing the bat or pitchers who rarely take BP embarrass themselves the majority of the time. I’ll take the hitter anytime. All of the so-called “strategy” like bunting and double switching the NL offers is not quite as exciting as a David Ortiz or Frank Thomas taking their cuts.

I forgot the origin, but the quote goes something like the AL plays checkers while the NL plays chess. It takes a lot more strategy without the DH. AL baseball is mindless.
The option is only in the beginning of franchise. It’d be nice if we could toggle it on or off whenever we wanted... why do they care? I’d like to start with no DH in the NL like in real life and switch it after year 1 or 2.

I'm not saying one league is more difficult than the other, but you could make a case that in the NL the times for going to the bullpen can be more obvious, where as in the AL, its purely based on feel.

Don’t get me wrong, pitching in the AL is a lot more difficult and it adds more offense and excitement to the game. In fact MLB is more likely to institute the DH in the NL now more than ever in terms of encouraging viewership. The DH is perfect for associations like the NBA and NFL, but the MLB is the league where I world prefer to read a book over watching a movie if you get what I’m saying.
