I play RTTS exclusively and I've definitely got my $60 worth.

Re: Is 20 worth getting?

I quit buying this game every yr because of the lack of progress in Franchise mode, as its all I play, so I hadn't bought it in 2 yrs, so I cant compare it to last yrs game, all I can say is Franchise mode isn't really any deeper, than it has been for the past several yrs.

Sure some things have been improved upon, but Spring Training is still bare bones, with only 1 ballpark in each Spring Training League. But how the CPU manages their spring games is still the same crap. So if your looking for a brand new revamped and deeper Franchise mode, then you may want to save your money.

However, the gameplay is great IMO, yeah you got to do a little slider adjusting, as HR's are a little high, for you and the CPU. But the game graphics is amazing. Im enjoying the game, and Im glad I decided to get it this yr. With real life baseball being stopped due to the Chinese virus, I decided to go with MLBTS instead of OOTP, as I tend to be OCD about stats, and following everything IRL, including lower levels of MILB ball, and I get that with OOTP, with how deep it is.
So in a way, the Wuhan virus has made video games fun again, as Im just playing, and not being OCD about having to call this player up or injure that player, because he is injured IRL. I still want stats being realistic, but Franchise mode is fun again, just playing, like I use to do, rather than thinking I need to make every trade and every move that happens IRL in my Franchise for that 1st season as I follow along with real life. I had even gotten so bad, that I would sim each game until I made sure the winner IRL won in my Franchise mode. I know that sounds ridiculous and quite frankly it was, looking back now. I wish it wouldn't have had to take sports being put on hold, due to whats going on in the world, to make me actually enjoy playing like I did as a kid, but when I was a kid, video games didn't have franchise modes either, or I probably would have driven myself nuts yrs ago, with my franchise needing to more accurately reflect real life, LOL.

Anyway Im loving MLBTS20, but I cant tell you its better or worse than last yr or even the yr before, since I didn't buy those games, but its a heck of a lot better than 17 was. Typically MLBTS always tends to get a little better each yr, its just usually big jumps most of the time. I did notice at the end of games, you no longer hear the PA announcer naming the streets outside the ballpark to follow, which I always thought was neat, but clearly that's no big deal, it was just neat seeing the detail of naming the streets IRL where the exits were located.

Re: Is 20 worth getting?

I've never missed a version of this game and 20 is the best one yet.

But quarantine has me wondering if I should try to get back into this years game. So I'm just curious what the thoughts of long-time players are. Is 20 worth getting? Or will it be a very similar experience to what I remember from 17/18. Thanks in advance.

I’m in the exact same boat with the FIFA series. It’s a nice place to be, frankly. As a casual you can pretty much ignore all the negativity and rest assured you’re getting the best version yet. I can barely tell the difference between FIFA 14, 16 & 19, yet if you follow the online narrative there’s been “massive” changes and FIFA 20 is definitely, without a doubt, the worst version yet. It’s hilarious to watch.

Pretty much same thing here. Yes, it’s going to be mostly the same. Yes, there are lots of little improvements. Yes, there will be things that bugged you before that are still there. But in the end it’s the best version of the game to date. Take it or leave it kind of thing imo.

Re: Is 20 worth getting?

I am not exaggerating when I say it is the very best console Sports game I have ever played.

And I have played them all since Atari 2600.

It simply does not get better than MLB The Show 20.

It's one of the best Shows that they've made. If you can hold off until June 3rd, it's going to be $39.99 digitally for the Days of Play sale.

Re: Is 20 worth getting?

20 is great all around, but I still feel 16 had better hitting. The switch to new ball physics in 17 were pretty bad at first and really started to improve by 19 and again further improved in 20. The problem is with zone hitting, user input is still sometimes not what you expect on contact compared to 16. 20 beats it for fielding and defensive improvements.
