Re: Having pitchers pitch longer than 6 innings?

I get what these guys above me are saying about 6 innings being max last year IRL.

That being said if I want my starter to throw 100 pitches I want him to be physically capable of doing that in the game. Which is why I set user and cpu starter stamina at 8. I have elite guys gassing out at 100 pitches. Which is very normal.

Francona, the Indians manager would religiosity let his starters go WELL past 100 pitches. Bauer, kluber would have games where they would pitch 120+ pitches. I atleast want that to be possible on the game. Francona has a large leash. I use Cleveland in franchise. That’s why I use 8 stamina.

I personally pay little attention to stamina and rely on confidence and pitcher effectiveness.

Yes pitchers miss more marks when tired but so long as confidence is strong they can still pitch very effectively.

I wish managers had more of an impact, like on hook/stamina, stealing, and overall pitching and hitting strategies.

First off, the first inning or two is the most difficult to get the pitcher in rhythm. On average I might have a first inning going 16-20 pitches and then if they don't give up any runs they gain confidence.

Second, when the stamina meter starts to hit yellow they get REALLY erratic and start throwing beachballs to the hitter. This usually happens in the late 5th or early 6th (85+ pitches).

There's also usually at least an at bat or two per game where the hitter goes through a 8+ pitch at bat.

I find myself constantly only using SP's for 5 innings (6 if they're pitching incredible) and using RP's for the other innings. This is w a rotation of all 85+ overall pitchers

do people have tips on how to have SP's last longer?

I play on “All Star Plus” with classic pitching, my sliders are set 5 for SP 2 for RP.

I have no issues with going past 6IP with my starter if he’s pitching well and has an attribute of 75+ for stamina (this is important to know in order to know how long can they pitch per outing)

One thing I like to do is throw a lot of strikes in the first two innings, pitch to contact. Unless you are getting hammered, only then you change the strategy.

One other thing to keep in mind is that if you leave your starting pitchers in the game until they are drained out every time, they won’t always be 100 % next time around in the rotation.

I’ve been shutout by the CPU and their starter had zero energy for the 8th and 9th innings, but his confidence was maxed so he was still able to pitch effectively.
