MLB The Show 20 PS5

Not sure if this has already been answered but if I purchase the digital version of the game on the PS4 will I also be able to play it on the PS5 or would it be required to repurchase it on the new console?

Sony said that about 99% of PS4 games will work on PS5. So I'm pretty sure that includes The Show. From what I'm hearing, if you bought something digitally on PS4, then on the new PS5, you just go to your game library and it should show up there to download.

I wonder if MLB The Show 20 will run perfectly smooth in 4K/60 on PS5?

Because even on PS4 Pro it is still kind of choppy in 4K/60 mode.

I already sold my PS4 Pro and I can't wait to get my hands on the PS5 hopefully before the end of the year and the first game I play is non other then MLB The Show 20 .Unless of course I do not get my PS5 until next spring then I will play MLB The Show 21 of course.

Man I wish they had a lot more PS5's available at launch such a bummer

Me too. People everywhere are assuming PS5 will solve all the issues that currently exist but they are setting themselves up for a big let down. I'm not one who hops on the newest thing. I wait until well after it's been released.

PS4 was the first time I was an early adopter. It was not bad.....but I was underwhelmed with sports games for the first two cycles.

And the direction of sports games has made it an easy decision for me to sit tight with my PS4 Pro for at least 18-24 months and work through an enormous backlog of games while enjoying MLBTS 20 and M21 for a while.

I hope in a couple of years I make a jump and really enjoy a true upgrade in AI, features and gameplay.

I waited 3 years before jumping from the PS2 to the PS3 and was glad I did. I will probably do the same this time around.

Same. Though I say the same thing a new edition of the show comes out, and then I end up buying it anyway....

But in all seriousness, it would take something special re: the Show 21 for me to upgrade to PS5 anytime in the next year or two. Lots of other great games that I keep wanting to replay on ps4 (Red Dead, GTA, Far Cry 5), plus this is the first time that I've really been obsessed with my Show Franchise (Mariners). I've always loved franchise mode, but this is the first time that I've stuck with a team for a long period of time.

Something tells me that the Show 22 will be when I make the move.

That is my tentative timeline based on what I see is planned for the 22 version on PS5. I am talking expanded rosters, franchise mode improvements, presentation improvements, Sounds of the Show must be as it is now or even better as that is mandatory for me with this game.

Of course gameplay is always numero uno but I expect that to always be top notch. That is a staple of this series and I have been spoiled by these guys at SDS. It cannot be stated how much better the gameplay is in this series compared to other sports games (Madden, NHL).
