Anyone else hate playing with their favorite team ?

For the franchise people

Am I the only person who keeps trying to play with his favorite team and can’t do it ?

Not sure why but every time I start a franchise with the Mets I lose interest fast. Winning or losing it does not matter. It’s like I either get affected by what a player is doing in real life or it bothers me if they play better then they should or worse in the game

Anyone else have this issue or am I the only crazy one ?

I wouldn't say I hate playing w/Atlanta, but I do like playing w/Baltimore, Colorado, Oakland, Seattle and the White Sox.
when it comes to the Show those are in a sense my favorite teams, but not IRL they aren't. well, except for the O's. over the last dozen years I have adopted them almost like a ''step-team''. the Braves will always be my boy, my favorite son, but I have developed a soft spot in my head, err... my heart, for the Orioles

Opposite, I can only play with the Tigers.

I do know what you mean about real life having odd consequences to a person’s franchise mindset though. My go-to response on that is how I spent too many years hitting .237 with Miggy while he was hitting .341 irl to worry about it anymore. My stats are my stats. If I’m killin it it’s bc I’m killin it. Real life is irrelevant.

A few years ago I was playing franchise with my Jays. I had an amazing game where I came back in the 9th to walk it off with a home run with Jose Bautista.

I went to bed overjoyed.

Next day I go to work and ask a coworker if he had seen the big comeback last night.

The Jays hadn’t even played the night before. I had gotten real life and video game life confused.

Ever since I try to stay away from the Jays.

I usually start a franchise with them to try them out but my serious day to day franchise is always another team.

Its rough for me man, Maybe its because I watch every met game every year and i am so sick of seeing the Nationals, Braves, Marlins, and Phillies in real life I can not stomach them in game

I'm in an American league city so each year I pick a national league team that I go with and do a rebuild. But this year I did the opposite and went with the home town guardians because they're in sort of a rebuild, so in my world I'm the GM of the home town team and going to lead them to glory and my friends and family will all hail my greatness for delivering on my promise.

Anyone ever thought about playing an anti (favorite team) franchise where you play as whoever the opposing team is against your favorite team?

I don’t like playing with the Giants because I find it harder to make smart decisions in terms of cutting/trading/not re-signing guys/etc.

Haha this is great!

I'm a Reds fan fan so I really struggle to play as my favourite team. I can't win games, sign free agents or trade for anyone interesting because that would be too unrealistic. But losing games all the time is no fun either.

I like to choose a team that's on the cusp of contention but needs a little work to get over the top. This year, I'm playing as the Phillies. It's nice playing with my guy Castellanos and I was close to picking the Mariners too because of Winker and Suarez.

I enjoy playing with my favorite team, but not all the time. I used the Braves this year because they won the World Series, and last year because it was my first MLB game in years. In the future, I think there's a good chance I'll use someone else (especially if I ever upgrade to next gen and build the A's a new park). But like Madden, I'll have years I play my Jags in franchise, but I've also had years where I used teams like the Seahawks, Vikings, Bills, etc.

In NBA 2k, I always use my favorite team, but that's because they don't presently exist, so it's an entirely new roster every time.

I’m the opposite. Playing with my favorite team is why I got the show this year. The Rangers had a good offseason and wanted to play with the new team.

I have the opposite effect where I play with non favorite teams and I lose interest. I think the biggest thing is I just want to play in Fenway 81 games a year and struggle in any other park.

Well, my favorite team disappeared years ago so I guess I can’t play with them anymore, although their old uniforms are available in the game (yes I’m talking about the Expos). I’ve tried playing with the Nats wearing the Expos jersey but it doesn’t feel right.

Next on the list are the Jays but whenever I start a season with them, I get less interested. I’m a national league guy, even with the DH. I’m leaning towards Cubs or Marlins. And the Nats.
