    Jones v. Rampage - UFC 135- SEPT 24- DENVER

No link but I'm seeing a ton of signs pointing toward this.

    - Jon Anik mentioned it on MMA Live this week.

    - Just saw a commercial for the New Orleans event on ESPN and Jon Jones is featured in it heavily.

    - This event is completely sponsored by Bud Light who is demanding a big main event for this card.

    - Spike has complained about the lack of big names on Spike cards the last few years.

    - This would not be the first time the LHW belt was defended on Spike (Hendo v. Rampage)

    What do you think?

-Jon Jones (13-1; #1 Light Heavyweight)* vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (32-8; #4 Light Heavyweight)*†
-Diego Sanchez (23-4; #10 Welterweight) vs. Matt Hughes (45-8)
-Nate Diaz (13-7) vs. Takanori Gomi (32-7)
-Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto (18-4) vs. Damacio Page (15-6)
-Ben Rothwell (31-7) vs. Mark Hunt (6-7)
-Travis Browne (11-0-1) vs. Rob Broughton (15-5-1)
-Tony Ferguson (11-2) vs. Aaron Riley (30-12-1)
-James Te Huna (12-5) vs. Ricardo Romero (11-2)

That would be surprising to me. Rampage is one of there biggest draws, but boy would it be good. If it is, bold move by the UFC

That'd be nice. Seems too big to give away for free though. Maybe the rest of the card won't be much.

Thats what I'm thinking. The only people booked on that night so far are Brookins and Alan Belcher.

I would also think it would be a numbered event, even if it was free. Rampage-Hendo was like 75ish if I remember correctly, even on TV.

Actually you know what, I don't really know if this is awesome or not. I really don't care one way or the other lol.

              Positives? Negatives? anyone

Positives: It would get a lot of views probably, title shot on free televison
Negatives: UFC would lose a lot of money from PPV revenue.

Positives...its free. Oh, its free. Oh and the last thing, It's free!

No negatives that I can see. The only other card in December is the Denver card and that will probably be where they slot Edgar/Maynard 3. The only possible negative is perhaps Dana was thinking about really stacking the Denver card with Jones/Rampage, Edgar/Maynard and Hughes/Sanchez.

Rampage/Jones would get the biggest rating in Spike history. Jones is already a high profile fighter but it could put him in the next stratosphere with a dominant win. Plus it proves to other networks (who are currently bidding on the UFC contract) that the UFC can do a huge rating.

I dont think the UFC will lose a ton of money. Jones/Rampage would do in the 800k-1mil range but this is basically a free event for the UFC. Bud Light is footing the bill as a part of its new multi million dollar ad exclusivity deal.

If he does that, which he still might it would probably be the biggest selling PPV by far.
                      Great LW rematch
One of the biggest draws against the young superstar plus Hughes retirement fight probably.

No way that card does over 1.5 mil. Edgar/Maynard still arent big enough names and Jones is a star with UFC fans is still a step or so below.

I think its the difference between long money and short money. You could get a good amount of short money by stacking the Denver card or you could get a ton of long money by profiling Jones as a champion against the 3rd most famous fighter in the UFC on national TV.

There are no negatives for us. This would be awesome.

Question though: what happened to Rashad's shot?

Timing. He is scheduled to fight Davis in August. Spetemeber is too quick of a turnaround. He will get the winner.

He gets if he beats Phil Davis

Alright maybe not 1.5mil, but I think it does at least 1mil. Rampage-Jones would sell a lot, plus two titles on one card is huge. Did 129 do the 1.5mil?
