Just to confirm: its MVP 2013 right?

Re: Just to confirm: its MVP 2013 right?
I'm not sure when the license runs out, but baseball games are dated differently then NFL, NHL, and NBA games because the season is all played in one calendar year. Don't know if that makes a difference or not...NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Correct. 2K's exclusivity deal doesn't run out until after the 2012 season. If EA revives MVP, it won't be until 2013.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Just to confirm: its MVP 2013 right?
While I LOVED MVP 2005, EA won't make a polished game right away sadly. Since they've been away from MLB baseball for awhile we can't expect them to pick up where they left off several years ago.
It's a shame they ever lost the license. Just think where that title could be today.GT: Herkyalert

Re: Just to confirm: its MVP 2013 right?
I am sure the brains behind the MVP Series have moved on, didn't the head producer go to 2K and left there as well? Don't remember his name. If EA is thinking of getting back in the Baseball Sim arena, they definitively should start producing a non licensed game so they get the kinks worked out.Comment

Re: Just to confirm: its MVP 2013 right?
If they do plan on either getting a piece of the license or going all out and making the license exclusive to them, they should start developing the game beforehand. EA is the one company who could do this because they do have the resources and money to be able to start getting everything in order a year or two before the license deal even runs out. So I don't buy that the game will need a release or two before it gets polished. Then again, they haven't developed a baseball game for this generation of consoles yet, so maybe it will be a year or two even if they do get a head start on the development process.
As much as I hate exclusive deals, I don't hate this one as much as the NFL one. It really opened the door for SCEA, a GREAT company with great people, and it sent a message to EA that you can't go out and buy the NFL without getting hit back a bit too. Unfortunately, that fight has only hurt the consumers. But it would be nice to see SCEA and EA go toe to toe, and even throw in 2k Sports.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Just to confirm: its MVP 2013 right?
exclusivity is the bane of sports games. It doesn't matter if it's EA with the NFL, NASCAR or 2K and Sony with MLB. It seems no one wins in these cases. I loved the MVP 04 and 05 games. Best of their time even if the graphics were dated even by the standards of the time. The game play, especially the pitching mechanics were fantastic. I currently have The Show and i'm happy with it for now. I can play that for as long as it takes for someone else to come up with another game. Personally i like to shop around and scope out the games rather then peg all my loyalty with one specific company.( prolly why i hate any sort of exclusive licensing schemes.)Comment

Re: Just to confirm: its MVP 2013 right?
They can't even start development on a MLB game until 2K's rights expire. That's why they should use the work around of a NCAA Baseball game. If they make one or two of those for ps3 and xbox360 before 2k's loses the rights, they would have time to create the system, then have it in NCAA Baseball basically just to make sure it's polished, that way when they can start making the MVP Games again, they already have a polished (or somewhat polished) game engine to use.Comment
