NBA 2K15 Fictional Draft Classes by CWSapp757/Dreece/Blindside for XBOX One

What’s up everybody. Many of you that are reading this are familiar with the realistic fictional draft classes that me and Dreece have been bringing to the Xbox 360 for several years. The classes initially started off as a way to avoid the terribly inconsistent draft classes that were randomized in Association mode.

In the previous versions of the game, there were many problems with the draft classes so we put together our own classes to alleviate that. In addition to fixing many of the problems that plagued the generated draft classes, we also included in depth scouting reports and videos on prospects to make it the most realistic experience available.

We initially planned to remain on the Xbox 360 but after hearing of the changes to the next gen versions, we have decided to make the switch to the Xbox One for the upcoming year. The list below is a list that addresses what our classes have included in the past and what we plan to include in this year’s versions of our draft classes:

- Our draft classes focuses on every single player in the draft. From the highest rated prospect to the lowest, they all get equal attention. That includes appearances, ratings, tendencies and sig skills.

- Real drafts include busts and gems. Now while we understand that a video game makes it somewhat difficult to duplicate that, we try our best to do that. You may find a player that is a 73 overall with a potential rating that leads to him never getting better or a 55 overall players with a potential rating that eventually surpasses the before mentioned 73 rated players. This will ensure that scouting is necessary and will provide you with that “risk factor” that makes the draft so interesting.

- Specialty players. Most of you reading this have played previous versions of the game and know that once you get pass the first 10 to 15 best players, the rest of the players are basically worthless. In our drafts, you may find a player that is a 56 overall that may be one of the best shooters in the draft, marvelous defender, great rebounder etc. The draft is about finding the player that best compliments what you already have on your team and these drafts provide you with that opportunity.

- Everyone that follows sports knows that a player’s back story gives you somewhat of a “personal connection” to a player. Because of that we have included stories that will follow the players throughout their college careers. Not just individual stories, but we have created an entire “Pre-NBA” world so that you can get the scoop on what these players have done in college/overseas before being included in our draft classes. Stories can be found at http://cwsapp757.wordpress.com/ for the time being and occasionally here in the thread.

- Scouting reports and videos. In addition to back stories, each draft class will come equip with tons of scouting information on each and every player. In addition, Dreece will make sure that you guys have tons of video footage of these players so that you can really immerse yourself in the draft experience.

- Something that Ronyell suggested that I add in here as well is that the REAL fun with using these classes is to NOT look at the ratings when you download the draft and DEFINITELY do not look at potential. If you want a realistic experience, just download these as you go. I know it is hard not to analyze the drafts but you guys just got to trust us on this one.

- There are going to be THREE versions of each draft at release. There will be no real differences to any of the players EXCEPT for potential (which we all know makes all the difference in the world). So in version 1, a player might reach a 90 overall but in version 2 he may only progress 2 or 3 points. Or there could be no difference at all with a particular player with any of the versions. The point is that your league can turn out completely different depending on which version of the classes you use. There is a rule that I suggest though:

The versions will be meticulously mapped out to maintain a certain balance in the league. So the lowering of a players potential in DC 1 may equal the raising of another player’s potential in DC 5. Because of that, whatever version of the classes you use for DC 1, THAT IS THE VERSION YOU SHOULD CONTINUE TO GO FORWARD WITH. So, if you decide to go with DC 1 version 3 when we release the first class, you should go forward with version 3 for the rest of the draft classes going forward. Of course you can download them all but stick with one version for each respective Association.

-This year we have a very similar formula to last year’s that we will use to grade the players and rank them. When we used to do draft classes several years ago, I would randomly put together a big board/mock draft. When you do that you can either take all of the fun out of it by giving away who the best player is or you can purposely screw it up rendering the whole thing pointless.

As we have evolved with this, I have come up with a way to base these rankings off of actual data while still giving you the possibility of drafting a bust early or a gem later. Here is how that is done.

As I have discussed in the first post, each draft class that we put out will have three different versions. The only difference between these versions is the potential rating which could be drastically different or exactly the same. In one version, player A (rated 68) could have a potential of 80 but have a potential of 69 in version 2. Here is where the formula comes in to play:

Each player is rated in different areas: "player's current status” (how good he is when he is drafted), "player's potential ceiling” (how good he can be which is based off of potential rating) and "chance of reaching potential ceiling section” (a percentage that I come up with based off of the potential of that player in the three versions).
The current status section and player potential section have the same scale. Both sections have the possible listing of Far From NBA Ready, Not NBA ready, Almost NBA Ready, Bottom of the Bench, Middle of the Bench, Top of the Bench, Starter, High Profile Starter, All Star, Franchise Player, Hall of Famer and Legend. The "chance of reaching potential ceiling" is represented by a percentage. Once again, I come up with this percentage based off this player's potential rating across the three different versions of the classes and the overall difference in a player's "best case scenario version" and "worst case scenario" version. Here is where the formula comes in to play. Each of those previously listed "statuses" equates to a certain amount of points. "Far From NBA Ready" equates to 20, Not NBA Ready equates to 30 points, Almost NBA Ready equates to 40 points and so on and so forth in increments of ten. In order to determine a player's total points we use this formula:
(Player's Current Status *40%) + (Player's Potential Ceiling*40%) + (Player's Potential Ceiling * Chance of reaching potential ceiling*20%) = Draft Grade

So for example, say a player is currently a middle of the bench player with the potential to be a Starter and has a 75 percent chance of reaching his potential. His total score would be (60*.4) + (80*.4) + (80 *.75*.2) =
68

Now let’s say Player B is also currently a middle of the bench player and he has the potential to be a high profile starter. However, he has a 45 percent chance of reaching his ceiling. Although he may have a higher potential ceiling his overall score would be a 68.1
. Do you take the risk with player B because he has a higher ceiling or go with player A because he has a better chance of reaching his ceiling (albeit it a lower ceiling).
This little formula puts you in a position where you HAVE to scout. There are three different versions of these classes so you can look like the smartest guy in the room or you can get bit in the butt.

If you would like to follow some of our previous work to get a better idea of what you are in for, please feel free to visit our 360 thread at the link below:

Over the next couple of months, me, blindside and dreece will be providing you with information, stories and college results from the upcoming prospects. Stay tuned. I hope you all enjoy.

NBA 2k15 Draft Class Introduction
There's something to be said about "realism". In the world of sports video gaming it seems to be what most of you reading this strive for. We spend weeks and even months on alterations to these games that we play so that it can play as close to "real life" as possible. But when you get down to it... it's still a video game. There is only so much that you can do to mimic real life. That is especially true when it comes to games like NBA 2k that provide you with modes that give us the opportunity to go in to the future..... WAY into the future. If you are into those type of modes like many of us are, you encounter a point where you have no choice but to abandon the world of real players. That is where we come in.

These draft classes are the creation of not only myself, Dreece, Blindside and Ronyell but everyone that wants to be a part of this spectacular fictional world. And because we all take this so seriously, these players won't just be pixels on a screen. They'll have personality. They'll have a story. They'll actually mean something.

Maybe you will take a chance on a top prospect that didn't pan out in college. Maybe you draft a guy because we have created so much hype for him that you've fallen in love with him. Maybe you'll draft the bad boy because everyone else seems to hate them. Or maybe you'll have you eye on a player because YOU created him.

Some people reading this may think this is a bit of an over the top intro for draft classes. Maybe it is. I only present it like this because that is honestly how serious we take this. So with that being said... welcome to our world. It is as real as you want it to be.

Yeah turty. It's just so much of an improvement and now that we got blindside with us early on we can do some really big things with these classes. We want to try to make it feel as close to real life as possible

Re: NBA 2K15 Fictional Draft Classes by CWSapp757/Dreece/Blindside for XBOX One

I think I want to do things a bit differently this year. Last year individuals that won our March Madness contest each class would have the opportunity to have a player in our fictional world. The winners would pretty much have control over their player's storyline.

THIS YEAR, the team is going to control 100 percent of the storylines but I want to give anyone that would like to be included in the draft classes the opportunity to do so. With that being said, you guys can take the next few days to post your own personal player that you would like us to include in our classes.

All that I ask that you post is:

Player Name: (ex.) Kurt Wagner
School/Nationality: (ex.) Oklahoma
Class/Age: Freshman
Position: Point Guard
Height: 6'3
Weight: 188
GENERAL description of playstyle: Pass first, offensive specialist
GENERAL description of appearance: Tan white guy, spikey hair, several arm tattoos
GENERAL description of personality: Hard worker, quiet and not very emotional

That's all you need to post and I'll take it from there. Thanks!
