Beat Defensive Settings to Defend the Paint
I keep having guys blow by their defender and attack the rim totally undefended as everyone else is stuck to their man. What is the best defensive setting so they play help or zone to protect the paint. Any suggestions? Also, any way to save defensive settings for offline?Tags: None -

Re: Beat Defensive Settings to Defend the Paint
You can also play as the post defender and slide over yourself to pick up the driver then manually note to switch the other defender onto your man. See the manual switching tutorial here.
This is not as effective on blow by drives because the defender that got blown by may not be able to get to the post player you left, and it likely creates a mis-match with a guard on a big, but might be something to play with.Comment

Re: Beat Defensive Settings to Defend the Paint
On top of those suggestions, you can simply pause during a game and go to the Coach Sliders menu under Gameplan, then just increase the Help Defense slider to 65 or higher (higher meaning more early help).
I’d also check your Defensive Settings to see if you’re somehow set to Stay Attached on all players or something like that. You can go through the settings here and tailor your entire defensive strategy for every individual player in almost every situation. You can also set which of the opposing players you’d like to leave open and send his defender to help first, which players you never want to leave open in help defense situations, which players you want PnR defenders to switch when the pick is set, etc.
You can also change over to control the CPU team and make the same changes if you’d like.Comment

This happens to me a lot too. Is it better to play zone or man to man when you have an inside scorer that is destroying you?Comment
