Re: how do shot defense sliders effect gameplay?
There is already a thread on this by eccentric so please check there. Cheers

Re: how do shot defense sliders effect gameplay?
Yup...I have read that thread extensively and it causes more confusion than clarity as eccentric and Shady offer two very different explanations. Was hoping someone could explain them conclusivelyComment

Re: how do shot defense sliders effect gameplay?
Ok i still dont see the point of starting a new thread but I understand your frustration. Hopefully you get the answer you are looking for. Personally if you ask me i agree with shady because using his sliders his theory seems to be correct but you never know. For example before this patch the free throw difficulty slider was backwards... So take this with a grain of salt. Good luck

Re: how do shot defense sliders effect gameplay?
I just some time testing Layup Shot Contest (Takeoff), Layup Defense Strength (Release), Jump Shot Defense Strength (Gather), and Jump Shot Defense Strength (Release).
Takeoff/Gather at 0
Weak closeouts from defenders. Often hands down, do not make an effort to actually contest shots.
Takeoff/Gather at 100
More aggressive closeouts. Hands up, jumping out at shooters to contest shots.
Release at 0
Shot contests are ineffective. Players hit shots when closely guarded.
Release at 100
Shot contests are effective. Players hit less shots when closely guarded.
Overall,
Takeoff/Gather affects the closeout intensity/animations.
Release affect the effectiveness of the shot contest.
It looks like the takeoff/gather slider affects the closeout speed/intensity of players, but has no effect on the shot %. The release slider controls how effective the shot contest is. The higher the release slider, the less likely a player is to make a contested shot.GT: minibeast100

Re: how do shot defense sliders effect gameplay?
When will 2k explain us how the gameplay sliders work and what it effects?
I can't remember it happens in the last 5 years. Nobody answer the questions. It seems that they haven't answers because nobody test the sliders if they work correctly.
Every slider have a code and at least they must tell us what is behind it for more clarification.Comment

100% agree. Some kind of reference or explanation of sliders is sorely needed. Most are self explanatory, but some are notWhen will 2k explain us how the gameplay sliders work and what it effects?

Re: how do shot defense sliders effect gameplay?
Interesting. I will do some more testing tonight. The majority of my testing was with jumpshooting, as that is easier to see. I was using my custom sliders, with the only changes being to the shot defense sliders.GT: minibeast100

Re: how do shot defense sliders effect gameplay?
Awesome man, thank you for posting this! Looks like my original assessment was close to what DaCzar said.
I have been testing, and I think I like to have higher Gather and lower Release. This makes the defensive closeouts more effective, and helps separate stars with deadeye vs average shooters. A player like Melo (or old Kobe) can iso on the elbow, jab step, and hit a jumper in someones face.GT: minibeast100

This will be a great step forward for your and many other slider sets. Glad you could take something from it.
