Easier Drives - Less Bumps Help

    Hello,

I tried many of the settings here and googled a lot. I want to make driving and dunking a bit more easier as I don't have the time to learn all these neat tricks and tips just want to have some basketball fun while having a nice challenge in MyNBA mode.

I couldn't find the sweet spot. I still can't do dunk or nice layup I always get bumped in to defenders. I have set my Body Up sensitivty on User to 20 and CPU 27. I want to have a bit more arcade feeling.

Thanks for helping out clearing some info regarding this.

I was like you. What has helped keep the sense of challenge but lessened the frustration on drives is taking the on ball D in the in the game settings during a games. It has helped me quite a bit still have very close games and losses feel like losses.

I put lateral tnd accelartion to 40. On ball to 30 and I still get bumped out of layup animations but most of the time layups don't even start, but the AI on the other hand just pushes pushes than makes a layup much more like real life players, but my players don't even attempt it.

I know I need to get better as well. But this is all too complicated now days. Still I keep trying it every year.

Sounds like Body Up Sensitivity is your culprit. Drop that by 10 and try it out. Then drop it by another 10 if it’s still not where you want it. Get to the point where it’s too easy for your liking, then increase to find the sweet spot.

The Dunk In Traffic Frequency/Success and Attempt Dunks sliders are unsurprisingly super impactful for getting more dunks. In general, making paint scoring easier is one thing that can be accomplished through pretty straightforward means (e.g., lowering the defensive contact sliders for layups, etc.). If I were you I'd focus on the sliders that are specific to inside scoring / driving, rather than making big adjustments to something like Body-Up Sensitivity, since a general slider like Body-Up will have a broader impact (for instance, lowering it will result in less contact on jumpshots, too, so if you're satisfied with your jumpshooting then you could mess that up by messing with Body-Up).

Re: Easier Drives - Less Bumps Help

I have the opposite issue now. It’s too easy to drive to the basket with quick players like Morant and Garland (my two main saves are Grizzlies and Cavs).

I am a little confused on how to make CPU defense stronger without affecting mine (it’s already too easy to defend vs CPU). I know some sliders in defense are reversed and some aren’t which I tried figuring out by just changing from Rookie to Superstar and noticing how they change but not sure which one impacts what.

I badly did not want to play around with sliders but after last few patches it’s just too easy. Already raised CPU defensive awareness and consistency to 100 but it doesn’t seem to do enough. What I basically want to achieve is for defenders to close out on Morant when I try and force him to take contested layups instead of easy slam dunks.

              Help.

So your main problem is just not facing any resistance at the rim? Increase the Contest Shots tendency slider for the CPU as well as the Layup Defense Strength sliders for the User. Right around 75 for all 3 sliders should be a good starting point. I’d also start with Help Defense Strength at 75 as well.

Yes that’s exactly my issue. Thanks, this seems to have helped. Putting this at 70 seems to have worked better though as at 75 they are just glued to me when I run to the basket with any weaker player (though maybe it’s just first impression).

Whose help defense should I change though - User or CPU? I know some of these are reversed.

I’ve always just set them the same for both. I’d have to double check if the user setting affects user help defense or the CPU’s.

                      For User Slider side :

Driving Contact Shot Frequency - Improves User Defense
Inside Contact Shot Frequency - Improves User Defense
Layup Defense Strength (Takeoff) - Improves CPU Defense
Layup Defense Strength (Release) - Improves CPU Defense
Jump Shot Defense Strength (Gather) - Improves CPU Defense
Jump Shot Defense Strength (Release) -Improves CPU Defense
Help Defense Strength - User Defense

For CPU Sliders it's opposite from above.

I mean, I’m the guy who wrote an incredibly detailed thread about the Layup/Jumpshot Defense Strength sliders so I know exactly how those work lol

I’ll take your word for the Help Defense Strength slider though

I also go back to that thread every year to verify that the sliders still work as described, and post as such in the thread so that others know as well [emoji1303]

At this point that thread is lore. One of the best and most descriptive explanations of the mechanics of a key part of the gameplay...especially since we don't get much for 2K about how their game work.

I'm appreciative of Eccentrics's post every year confirming that things still work as described. Makes one piece of the puzzle easier to sort out every year.

                              Many thanks.
