Screen and Hedge Settings

Hello OS. I’m not sure if anyone has a fix but I’ve been hating Pnr settings this year.

Go under seems the cpus go to and changing the defensive hedge setting doesn’t work anywhere near aswell as last year. If anyone has a fix I’d love to know but to me it seems like PNRgate 2.0.

Alternatively, I’ve made a complaint post with proof to the 2k discord and would appreciate a like, comment or additional videos on it to maybe help draw some attention (I know its a long shot). Cheers!

FWIW, I have seen videos of the CPU going over, but have not been able to replicate it. Only with certain teams.

In all my games the defender goes over and then under if I drive too much. The settings work well for me and the cpu

Can you guys post videos about it here? I don't use Discord. I don't have the issue of CPU defenders always going under screens. But there are a few issues that I've noticed:

The only CPU settings that seem to work are player matchups and predetermined team focus. Examples:

If you change the CPU team focus to 'Stay Home' CPU players will go under screens.

If you change the CPU team focus to 'Switch' CPU players will switch everything.

But if you try to force the CPU to use any other custom defensive setting it won't work.

This is the thing. I’ve seen your videos and you’re absolutely correct. I’ve seen Robs too.

Yet others can’t get your results. I’ve tried default everything, every difficulty level, ace on and off, no good. We’re playing with the same team. Other sim players have noted the same as the 1st poster.

With the match up bug, other bugs in these settings, and the creaking offensive settings section…from my perspective, this aspect of the game needs a massive overhaul.

Okay so Automatic = go over that’s helpful. I’ve been trying all iteration of custom settings. Here’s a video I sent to 2k though my little discord complaint has had all like removed now sadly.

I think the nutshell is most of us are struggling to get different parts of team strategy working properly, and we don’t really know why.

They’re certainly going over! Screens seems completely OP in many of these clips lots of suction leading to easy 3s and lanes. I’ll try automatic settings with the custom roster I play with add legend pick dodger, turn down strength and body sensitivity and see how it goes. Thanks for giving me hope!

You shouldn’t have to change those sliders, which could have huge gameplay impacts, to get the the CPU to follow a basic strategic instruction

I know man but I’ve been working on a roster since launch So I’m way past expecting anything default to work well. Removing brick wall used to be adequate but screens seem extra suctioning this year so I’m willing to edit a few more things.

I really hope that stay attached and a few more of the defensive settings can be toggled whilst allowing the cpu to go over. If customising is just not allowed then those early double and help off guys like steph will occur.

Last year I was happy enough with defence as you could boost the help d coach slider but put shooters on stay attached which reflected playoff defence I thought.

Yes unfortunately I tend to agree. I remember him acknowledging the broken setting in a stream when he took over many years ago. It seems he might be out of his depth or the conspiracy side of me thinks 2k doesn’t want it fixed so we continue to purchase the game each year…I’m sure many agree that the offensive side of the ball is on point this year and with custom rosters I’d hesitate to buy the game if we truly got a fix for coach stuff.

I just finished a game in Play Now and changed the difficulty from Pro to HOF. I didn't touch any defensive setting at all.

I found out that CPU defenders go under screens in Pro and All Star difficulty and go over screens in Superstar and Hall of Fame difficulty. Interesting...
