Re: 5th Official NBA 2K25 Player Ratings Update - 1.10.25

I absolutely thought Cade Cunningham would have boosted into the 90s. Like I'm actually shocked that didn't happen. Defensively he's missing some things like chase down badge. But rating wise he could benefit from a consistency boost

Trevelin Queen with the biggest boost. 7+

My biggest fears have been realized with Wemby going into the 95 state. Previously 92. I'm scared to look under the hood. Obviously defensively he's as outstanding. Offensively get him close to the basket for a dunk. He's going to be the most annoying player if his layups get into the high 80's

I'm really intrigued to see what they did with Amen Thompson.

Reed Sheppard gets send down to the G League and his rating drop one. These are the kind of drops that don't make sense. They have a talented roster. Being sent to the G League shouldn't looked at as a demotion.

I'm be right back with my thoughts

Looks like Wemby got a few badge upgrades. 3 HOF badges. He got small boost across the boards. The only one I don't agree with is stamina. It is now 99. Not really fair. Looking around.

Amen for some defensive boost. This should be fun.

No change on Cade Cunningham post game. Guess I'll just have to keep working my "magic"

Terry Rozier a +1, probably his finishing but he’s been awful.

Re: 5th Official NBA 2K25 Player Ratings Update - 1.10.25

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (7-4 since last update)
            84 (-2) Paul George
            77 (+1) Caleb Martin
            75 (-1) Kyle Lowry
            71 (+1) Jeff Dowtin

Philly's record is a bit deceptive, mostly playing against bad teams (though they did beat Boston)

            Last Three Weeks (L3W)
            George (10 GP/GS): 15 PPG, 6 RPG, 4 APG, 1.7 SPG, 33 MPG (38 FG%, 31 3PT%)
            Martin (10 GP, 8 GS): 10 PPG, 4 RPG, 1.4 SPG, 33 MPG (51 FG%, 52 3PT%)
            Lowry (8 GP, 2 GS): 2.3 PPG, 2.5 APG, 0.9 SPG, 16 MPG (32 FG%, 31 3PT%)
            Dowtin (5 GP): 21 points, 45 minutes, 8-14 FG (57%)

George appears to be turning the corner; he'll probably go back up next update.
            Nov (9 gms): 14/6/5 (38 FG%, 29 3PT%)
            Dec (11 gms): 16/6/5 (43 FG%, 34 3PT%)
            Jan (4 gms): 20/6/4 (45 FG%, 42 3PT%)

Martin finally found his stroke, bringing his overall shooting numbers back to last season's production.

Lowry started the year hot but hasnt been an NBA player in two months.
            Since November 6th: 18 games, 20 FG%, 15 3PT%

He is as close to cooked as an aging rotation player can get.

Naturally, because 2K only adjusts **** like Intangibles, Shot IQ, and Offensive Consistency, he maintains the following from 2K Sports:
            ATTRIBUTES: 90 Close Shot, 85 Mid-Range, 78 3PT, 84 Speed, 96 Stamina
BADGES: Deadeye (Silver), Mini Marksman (Bronze), Shifty Shooter (Bronze)

Re: 5th Official NBA 2K25 Player Ratings Update - 1.10.25

The Dowtin rating boost is actually the most baffling thing to me and indicates 2K doesn't have much of a process.
Unlike other two-way players who have gone up, Dowtin didn't have any standout games or even enter the rotation. He literally just played some garbage time. He played 12 mins of a 27-point loss the Cavs, and then 15 mins of a 34-point loss to the Warriors

ALL Sixer production over the last 3 weeks:

              69 (NC) Adem Bona (5 GP): 2.8 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 10 MPG (57 FG%)
              68 (NC) Justin Edwards (5 GP): 4 PPG, 13 MPG (41 FG%, 31 3PT%)

              I'm just not seeing it.

Embiid should have gone back up.
EG had his best two games of the season.
Caleb Martin should have gone up more than he did
But we're worried about some random garbage time from a Two-Way
**** give some love to Adem Bona at that point

Surely the definition of nitpicking? I just want an explanation to their process. What am I missing here? Because they are clearly selective and missing stuff at the macro and micro levels with however they're doing it.

Re: 5th Official NBA 2K25 Player Ratings Update - 1.10.25

The bigger picture of course is that Paul George's offense has slipped this season.
Given my own rating experience with him (I have him at 88 OVR), there's absolutely no way they got him this low without tanking his Intangibles, or reducing his Badges.

(Especially since there's a 0% chance they're going to ever touch his Defense or Athleticism)
                (At least without my prompting)

Attribute Changes since 9/4 (2K25 Launch)

                Paul George
                84 (-5) OVERALL
                87 (-2) Driving Layup
                60 (-15) Draw Foul
                83 (-11) Close Shot

                88 (+1) Mid-Range Shot
                77 (-7) 3pt Shot
                81 (-12) Free Throw
                72 (+10) Passing Vision

                37 (+4) Offensive Rebound
                65 (-10) Shot IQ
                70 (+6) Defensive Rebound
                53 (+1) Block
                86 (+20) Steal
                70 (-20) Offensive Consistency
40 (-35) Intangibles - And there it is

Even though George's scoring efficiency has slipped, his Rebounds, Assists, and Steals are up - a product of him no longer playing with Kawhi & Harden.

                FT: 264-291 FT (91 FT%, 4.2 FTA/36)

George has been getting to the rim slightly less - and he's had to create those opportunities for himself. Doesn't seem like he's been used as a cutter, but that makes sense w/ Kelly Oubre & KJ Martin around.
His short-mid-range (Close Shot) is basically unchanged. It's jumpers outside of 15 feet that he's been struggling to make.

Basing 3PT rating off straight 3PT% is one of the dumbest possible things you can do in a modern roster, and 2K knows this given their treatment of Curry, Luka, Dame, etc. He might have a slightly harder shot diet than last year given his increased on-ball role, but once the variance levels out (George is 13-31 3PT, 42% in his last 4 games) his offensive production will be nigh indistinguishable.

                2023: 24 AST%, 3 ORB%, 17 DRB%, 2.1 STL%, 0.9 BLK%

                ON-Ball Offense/36

                2025: 2.4 Spot, 1.9 Off-Screen, 0.8 Hand = 5.1 Poss/36
                2024: 4.5 Spot, 2.1 Off-Screen, 0.6 Hand = 7.2 Poss/36

Backs up that he's been relied on more to create shots.

The Overalls are getting way to inflated again. I think like 80% got an upgrade and only 20% an downgrade, this doesn’t make sense.

The only reason they are Net positive is because two unknowns (McCain & Yabusele) wildly overperformed.

While I understand this argument, I think they're doing a much better job managing it than in past seasons where it was more obvious.

MILWAUKEE BUCKS (5-5 since last update)
                            83 (+1) Khris Middleton
                            (9 GP, 7 GS): 14.7 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 4.4 APG, 0.4 SPG, 0.0 BPG, 24 MPG (49 FG%, 43 3PT%)

Middleton's offense is starting to come into form, though his defense leaves something to be desired. He's moving back to the bench to give the team better consistency while he's being injury managed.

                            --------------

                            82 (+1) Bobby Portis
                            (10 GP, 4 GS): 15.7 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.4 SPG, 28 MPG (44 FG%, 40 3PT%)

                            Giannis missed 4 games.
                            Portis in those starts: 21.3 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 5.5 APG, 1.8 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 33 MPG (46 FG%, 39 3PT%, 90 FT%)

                            -----------------

                            77 (+1) Gary Trent Jr
                            (10 GP): 11.8 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 1.6 SPG, 22 MPG (51 FG%, 51 3PT%)

                            Trent since November 13th: 11.0 PPG, 1.3 SPG, 25 MPG (49 FG%, 49 3PT%, 89 FT%)

                            ------------------

                            75 (+3) Ryan Rollins
                            (10 GP, 3 GS): 6.3 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 1.4 APG, 1.2 SPG, 16 MPG (51 FG%, 33 3PT%)

Despite his Two-Way contract status, Rollins has passed Delon Wright in the rotation. His defensive playmaking is up there with the likes of Alex Caruso (which is exactly what the Bucks need out of a backup PG).
                            Season (21 GP, 4 GS, 235 mins): 14.3 PER, 58 TS%, 18 USG%, 14 AST%, 3.9 STL%, 3.2 BLK%

                            -----------

                            74 (-2) Taurean Prince
                            (10 GP, 3 GS): 6.1 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 24 MPG (38 FG%, 28 3PT%)

The reduction in Prince's OVR is just stupid given he continues to play an important role on the team, and is shooting 44% from three on the season. He's back in the starting lineup.

A stark contrast from 73 OVRs like Delon Wright (5 GP) and Pat Connaughton (3 GP) who are collecting DNP-CDs. Prince is nowhere close to losing his job to them.
