We don't even have a half decent football game (or soccer if you're in the States) since PES 2021. Do you really expect competition for a NBA videogame? There are thousands gamers out there expecting 2K to develop a football (soccer) game. Simply there are no companies right now which can develop a better game than NBA2k.

2k set such a high bar for themselves back then that flatlining was inevitable.How much better was it gonna get?

The Show pretty much did the same thing wheras Madden kept the bar low and just when you thought they were on the right track there was regression the next year.

While competition is great I highly doubt there would be anything nearly as good for quite awhile that wouldn't have it's own set of issues that would be much more problematic.

If a person doesn't enjoy the current version there's alot of very good past ones to choose from.

People need to look at the FIFA/EAFC world to prove your point. Since Konami tanked PES and came out with eFootball (which is pretty much mobile on console), a few other players have tried to come into the market and it has not gone well. UFL is giving a decent shot, but they are a few years away from getting something close to the depth of EAFC. EAFC hasn’t been good in years unfortunately as it’s pretty much just catered to FUT and the gameplay has gone down hill, but nobody is going to challenge them for awhile.

Also competition doesn’t necessarily mean the games will be better. The fact is that the technology today is at another level and makes the game look closer to real life graphically, so our expectations are that the games actually PLAY like real life. When NBA2k and Live 95 and all those came out, it looked nothing like real basketball, but it’s was extremely fun and we didn’t care even though it was blocky and the physics were garbage.

As the tech grows, our expectations do and they’ll never be met because we want too many things and for the game to play like a real sport. Need to go back to the SNES/Genesis days when it looked like crap but it was fun.

One thing i will say i noticed, in 2k24, when playin vs the 89 Bad Boys, they'd hammer Jordan every chance they got. That same intensity is missing in 2k25.. wonder if its because of the defensive setting issue..?

This has been said bout Madden for yeaaars.. and it hasnt happen. Both Madden and 2k25 are solid games and best yet of their respective series..

Okay. Since the post game is almost gone nowadays, you're not affected by the double team in the post settings completely broken.
But what about the pick and roll defensive settings? Go Over doesn't work, Soft Hege, Hard Hedge, Catch Edge and Double don't work...
And these are fundamental aspects for today basketball.
