Something like 21.6% of total possessions are of the Pick-and-X variety. Probably a little higher:

Median % of team transition possessions: 13.5%

source: http://stats.nba.com/playtype/#!/tra...ason&sort=Time

Median % of team offensive rebounding possessions: 5.75%

Median % of team miscellaneous possessions: 6.2%

source: http://stats.nba.com/playtype/#!/mis...ason&sort=Time

So, roughly 21.6 / (100-13.5-5.75-6.2) = 29.0% of half court possessions, against set defenses, are Pick-and-X. Further, tons of other plays utilize PnX action, even if it doesn't finish a play. It's a huge part of gameplanning on both ends of the floor.

2k always does a great job, really hoping they put some work into the PnX this season on both ends (guys who know the game inside and out gave some great suggestions in this thread and others). Pretty optimistic since this thread has been around for so long. Looking forward to updates in 2k16.
This is great stuff. I love information like this.

Re: Offensive Pick and Roll Defense

One other thing I would add. The screener's defender (usually a big man) needs to "open up" more when I'm going under the screen. I've had times where I've had to go behind both the screener and my teammate to get under the screen. In worst case scenarios, I've gotten hung up on my own teammate and left an open driving lane for the ball handler. And if I'm going under the screen in the first place, I'm probably playing someone who I don't want getting into the paint. If my teammate isn't hedging a screen, he needs to step back so I can shoot the gap and get under the screen without running into him.

Re: Offensive Pick and Roll Defense

Good point. There needs to be a certain level of synchronization based on ratings that allow your teammate to act accordingly.
