PS4 version gone horribly wrong with input lag?

NBA 2K15 has a free Steam weekend going on right now. To play with a friend who doesn't own the PS4, nor the game I decided to download it and look around a bit.

What I noticed is that the insane input lag I've been experiencing on the PS4 is minimal when playing online on PC. I had a silky smooth experience playing MyPark and quick online. Something I've never had in 2K15 on PS4, nor 2K14 on PS4.

For the first time since 2K14 on PS3 I can actually defend opponents on-ball. If you have a decent PC and have issues with input lag on the console versions, please go and download the game on Steam during the free weekend and see if you have experiences similar to mine.

At this point I'm pretty pissed I wasted money for a clearly broken version of the product.

Is your PS4 wifi connected and the PC wired?

This would be pretty intriguing if it turns out to be true.

The PC versions of NBA 2K have historically performed worse than the console games do online. I remember trying to play NBA 2K13 online (the last one I bought on PC), and it was a disaster.

I'll install the trial version of PC 2K15 tomorrow and see what's up with it. The PS4 version of 2K15 has terrible input lag online, regardless of what mode I'm playing, or whether I'm using a wired or wireless connection.

Other PS4 sports games like FIFA 14 and NHL 15 run fine online for me, with no noticeable input delay. It's just NBA 2K14/2K15, NBA Live 14, and MLB The Show 14 that have had real bad lag so far for me on this system.

              Both wired.

At this point you could suggest that the problem is the console itself but when I play another game, say FIFA 15, I'm experiencing no lag. There is the possibility that because I'm in Europe, and bought the game from the US PSN store that I could be matched up against US users or that the MyPark servers I'm sent to are in the US, even though I'm playing the game with a European PSN account. However, I had the same experiences with lag in 2K14, and that game was bought on a European PSN account.

Yea my TV has viper drive and I still sense a tiny bit of input lag. It's really only with 2K tho...

Every other game is responsive. Especially Destiny...

2k input lag stinks. Who was the smart guy that thought to add such a precision based shooting system when such delay exist?

This is true. They claimed it wasn't but it is definitely lag offline. I recorded a couple instances where the lag was evident offline. Lol. Why the hell is it lag offline in this game.

That reminds me I forgot to mention that I play the PS4 version on the same computer monitor so there's no difference there.

Based on my experiences I'm leaning towards abandoning the PS4 version and buy it on PC.

Re: PS4 version gone horribly wrong with input lag?

I've only played the PC version offline on someone else's computer and it felt great, ran really smooth, no input lag. Downloaded the weekend trial on mine and it crashes to desktop every time I boot it. I'm running an i7 and Gigabyte 670.

I wonder how much resources a game like NBA 2k takes in comparison to other games like Destiny. There's far more going on and being animated on the screen at once compared to destiny and the graphic level overall seems superior on 2k. It's possible that the Xbox One and PS4 hardware is just behind the times, on paper neither are impressive and to think these are probably going to be out for another 5 or so years.

It is, if you have a system that can effectively run it. And we don't even have mods yet.
