And for the record, I don't want the option to be a 99 so I can abuse everyone. I just want it because it's fun to be an all-time great and try to get into the HOF.

I play real basketball and play sim style in 2K, I'm not looking to posterize everyone at the park. Just want options

Where there is power there will always be"abuse".I say that in quotation because its all relative. If Shaq could have dunked every play and scored 100 a game he would. It wouldn't make him less of a purist, you play to win the game.

For a realistic experience realistic limitations are needed.

I disagree but it's alright.

Re: Randomized MyPlayer skill caps in 2k16?

They should separate attributes for offline and online MyPlayers. Offline you can max you stats to 99 in every category. But online you can only be highly specialised in certain category. For example if you want to be a 3 point specialist then you're not gonna be dunking over everyone aswell.
You can be able to be a jack of all trades player if you want but your attributes should be capped to 80 or 85 if you want to go down that route. Offline you should be able to do whatever you want to do but online needs to be balanced.

OP....I like the way you think!!! This idea is nice. I was also thinkin' along the same lines, as far as capping abilities. My idea was, I liked the way badges were earned this year, so how about basing your attribute improvement on how you performed in certain areas of the game. I.E. More blocks = More opportunities to upgrade your block attributes and then also capping things off based on height and position and everything. I think that'd be kinda cool.

Re: Randomized MyPlayer skill caps in 2k16?

I want to have player types based on real-life players. For example Hakeem would be low-post star/two way superstar. Tony Allen would be Lockdown Defender. Kobe would be aggresive scorer. And many more. And let's say you choose Allen. Sorry, you can't shoot, dribble or pass the ball when you enter the league at the fringe age of 19. But hey, you can lock down everyone in the game. It would take probably 3-4 years of playing/not-paying your way to attribute boosts. Also it would put caps on your shooting/dribbling/passing attributes. So you could expand your game to be slightly above average shooter to keep defenders honest(34% 3pt shooter), you could become a secondary ball-handler but couldn't become Nash and could average around 4-5 APG when maxed out. Same for other player types. A good example would be Kyle Korver -- unathletic shooter who plays with his brain and not body. Great shooting potential but lousy defense and athleticism. Same for Nash. Marion would a mold of player similar to Tony Allen but with better scoring potential and better post defense but slightly worse perimeter defense. Or you could choose Rodman and be rebounding freak and defensive freak. You get my point. Or you could simply make a 3pt for slashing guard X number of times more expensive to upgrade. Like 10-15 times.

This was done on PC two-three years ago with Vl@d's REDitor. Point guards were as following (if I'm not mistaken): athletic - John Wall, scorer - Curry, 3pt shooter - Steve Kerr, pass-first - CP3/Rondo, defense - can't remember but Beverley would be a good bet right now.

Re: Randomized MyPlayer skill caps in 2k16?

My ideal thing would be to pick two 'idols', from different positions and different eras, one present and one past, but one of those idols had to belong to the position your player plays in. So, if you wanted a sharpshooter small forward with decent slashing ability, you could choose Kevin Durant and Ray Allen. If you wanted a dominant physical presence with decent jump shooting ability, you'd choose LeBron and Dennis Rodman, or an all round brilliant rebounder and dunking Center, you could choose DeAndre Jordan and Charles Barkley.

I like the system of old anyway, based on position, play style, height and weight your attributes were capped. My 2K14 shooting guard was a Slasher so he was really good for layups and dunks but I had to develop his jump shooting and he was capped there, and my passing attribute was capped at 75 or something.

Honestly I want total customization and if I want to make an all-time great type player so be it.

People will complain either way, what 2k should focus on is the gameplay itself and make it harder to score, tune defense to be more efficient, etc. No matter what there will always be exploits. The last thing I want to see is a random generator for making my guy. I like how this year you need to earn the badges and can't just buy them like last year, I also don't mind the buckets although some of them don't make sense IMO.

It's a video game, it's not real life. I should be able to go number 1 overall and be a stud if I want.

The real issue online is lag, no rules in the park, and dunking is way overpowered, it's like we are playing NBA street.

The problem is that Magic Johnson had faults, and when you play in the Rec/Park you end up playing against a lot of 7'0" SFs that have the dribble skills of Iverson, the post game of Hakeem, and the defense of Ben Wallace.

Height caps are needed, and they need to be lowered there is almost no point being a min height to 6'6" PG, and no point to making a SG/PF and little to no advantage of making a Center.

You have to make the other positions relavant whether it's a C because he holds a distinct height advantage/post advantage or a PG because his dribble skills can get him out of bad situations...

Re: Randomized MyPlayer skill caps in 2k16?

I'm fine with reconfiguring the way caps work, but I don't like the idea of random caps.

The user should be able to have some idea, when starting, what s/he is building towards and have a reasonable amount of confidence that with enough effort s/he can achieve it.

That'd definitely make it worse. People go into park and get absolutely crushed repeatedly by people who through will or luck have built LeBron level characters. The boards would be spammed with messages how it's the biggest injustice ever.
