Extra step when wide open.
Why do players take an extra step instead of shooting the wide open look? Pau Gasol never does that, yet in the game he always does it. Sometimes they take an extra step TOWARDS the defender which results in a miss...

Re: Extra step when wide open.
Yup. Caused me to lose a game at the buzzer once. I was down by 3. Had Klay wide open at the 3 pt line, passed him the ball and he stepped in front of the line as time expired. Thus causing me the game.Comment

Some players like Garnett and Bosh do this all the time IRL though.Comment

Re: Extra step when wide open.
I never noticed it to be honest. Before I clicked the thread I was thinking about how my players are extra few steps out at the 3pt line when posting up and ending up shooting a long 3. Must be certain players that do this extra step when wide open because I know if I saw that a lot it would piss me off.Comment

Re: Extra step when wide open.
Yes sir, it happens way too much and it almost always benefits the defense. It's annoying to see how you give a good pass to a wide-open team mate and then he inexplicably makes that move to get CLOSER to defender for a contested shot that shouldn't have happened. It would be nice if they adressed it...Comment

Re: Extra step when wide open.
This happens because you are pressing that direction while shooting. (at least that was the case with me lol)
kept happening to me as i experimented with shooting with the shot stick, thought it was a glitch, and sent a vid to Mike on twitter.
I soon realized i was relaxing my hand on the left analog a tad for some odd reason. went back to trusty square and has been smooth sailing since.
hopefully this helpsComment

It's on mycareer, so I have no control on the way they shoot. This happens because you are pressing that direction while shooting. (at least that was the case with me lol)

Re: Extra step when wide open.
Not the guy you responded to but.... what are you talking about? He literally just stated that there are some guys in real life (Garnett and Bosh) that really do this. Where did he defend it? He didn't say "Garnett and Bosh do it in real life so it's fine that all of these guys are doing it there's no problem."
Personally if possible I'd like to see this made into a tendency, have some players with a high tendency to step into a shot like that and others with a very low or even no tendency to step into a shot.Los Angeles Lakers, Las Vegas Golden Knights, Atlanta Falcons

Re: Extra step when wide open.
That'll be a great idea. Boozers tendency would be high as he has a bad habit of doing it. Those were one of his cons according to pros. Not the guy you responded to but.... what are you talking about? Re: Extra step when wide open.
Simple answer: It's there to give the opposing AI a chance to defend the shot, which makes absolutely no damn sense.Comment
