Re: Sim, is it even real anymore?

I think sim is a mix of player approach and overall game, first of all game needs to be sim so you could play simball. Another aspect is player approach if someone is cheesy but the game is sim, he will just look clueless and stupid (best combo). Second thing is broken gameplay plus cheeser and you got burned by series of unreal stuff (worst combo).

Re: Sim, is it even real anymore?

I was just about to post a thread about this.... Since I can't talk about this in my league... I'll post it here. The guy who made the league erased my post after he saw it.

I would like everyone to watch the clips I post. And give me your opinion.

But this guy kept playing in the front court. And said I was turboing and fast breaking after rebounds....

      I have waaaay more video.

And to top it off has anyone watch someone play one way for a whole game and then start cheesing the paint. Because it crunch time.... That what this guy did to me. He would post up.. and then get under the rim. And then pump fake under he got the foul. Turned the whole game around.

I'm most likely going to get booted because of this post. But he didn't want to talk about this publicly in the league. So that's why I'm hear.

Totally agree here.... You can not play 100% on ball defense and have a chance vs someone who using those rules against you. I have a user in my league. I don't blame him. But what he does is run a lot of floppy sets. The CPU always gets caught by the pick. And it's a wide open 3 every single time. The first few times I let it go. But after watching the next one. I switched into the defender and got around the screen and manned up. He said I was playing off ball defense and I had broken the rules..... Does that make sense to anyone here? Even when I changed the defensive settings.... The CPU would still leave him wide open. I think as long as someone isn't spamming off ball steals they should be aloud to play off ball to set up their defense. Even make a passing lane steal for a dunk. Because that's what happens in real life.

I've deducted rules as the game evolves and now that the coaches know that they have the tools and they need to make use of them on both side of the floor in a 48 mn game to be Nba and basketball like.

Having set rules like %50 pip is just saying that you don't need to defend let the rules defend for you or same as fastbreak rules or any other stuff. Basketball is a game of defense/offense so you should evolve yourself on both ends.

On 48mn HOF/SIM everyone knows that you need to be creative and non-repetitive to be succesful so why have rules??

That's the motto in my online league since 2k13.

Sim is about being competitive w/o being repetitive. Basketball is how it is.

Being a gentleman and a good competitor is more important than labeling something as sim bcs sim in real life is about variaties. Rules don't have varieties.

Sim definition and comprehension should definitely evolve as we and the game evolve. [emoji106]๐Ÿป

Perfect example where I think off ball defense was needed. Your opponent was running a set of plays that was pretty successful, you recognized the play, and you adjusted accordingly. To me, you adjusted to the play and not a gameplay glitch...having said that, your opponent was kinda "un-sim", because he was taking advantage of a successful set of plays, BUT he was REALLY trying to hide behind the "no off-ball defense" rule.

Which team was you using...please tell me you was the Hawks, lol.

EDIT: Nevermind...you was the Hawks. Honestly, you securing the rebound and bringing the ball up the court was the LEAST of his worries. His half-court defense was atrocious! I wasn't even paying attention to you bringing the ball up the court. I was trying to figure out how dude was giving up so many wide open shots. Personally, I don't see how this game wasn't a blowout.

Great game, awesome finish! Nice denial on AD in the final minute as well. Didn't unmute until the very end, but yes Pelicans user, George Hill hitting a 3 is possible, even at the buzzer. Don't blame 2k for that one, just a fortunate play!

Sorriest excuse for defense I've ever seen. Dude needs to increase that defensive assist slider all the the way up to 100. What you did in the final video is anti-competitive. You run plays to break down the defense. If the defense isn't paying attention then you take advantage of it. Doesn't matter if you don't run a single play all game or get 100 points in the paint, your goal is to score as many points as easily as possible.

You need to join a new league. I think C2K has a few spaces left. You might wanna contact Coach 2K or alabamarob about it.

Re: Sim, is it even real anymore?

The only rules I feel are necessary are 1) No known glitches/exploits in that year's game (standing out of bound to avoid 3 in the key, euro-step 3's, spin dunks, etc) and 2) Try to make it look reasonably close to a real NBA game. Moving the ball, not spamming the dribble with one player (maybe except for someone like Harden who dominates the ball in real life), don't throw full court passes constantly, full court press only when needed, etc.

Basically, as long as my opponent is making a reasonable effort at replicating the game of basketball, I'm not going to get upset at the occasional full-court pass, off-ball defense, or scoring too many points in the paint.

But here is the thing... I did end up losing this game. Because I felt bad how badly I was getting wide open looks. So as you can see in that play with Dennis and Horford. I literally could have got that layup because of his terrible defense. But I circle out and then post up with Horford. But on the other hand he was posting up and then backing down and then pump faking until defense went up and then draw the foul. He did it 4 times in a row smh

If he does hit me up. I think I'm close to done in that league.

The worst part about the whole thing was how he made me out to be the bad cheese. And only focusing on "I beat you. Take your beating"....

I love the PiP conversation and I never think there needs to be a limit. I do, however, believe the WAY you score the PiP needs to be in the conversation.

If I face an elite post scorer and he's doing moves all day to get good looks and school me: score all your damn points down there.

If I face a guy who just spams turbo and runs around in the paint to try and get to the rim: no thanks rather watch HGTV.

I never followed any PIP rule in any league I was in. I just played. I still don't understand one either.

I always thought that was a dumb rule. To me, if you already recruited "sim" players, then there's really no need for the rule. In a way, you're kinda "capping" your post players. I couldn't imagine playing in a league with this rule in place if I was running with the Pacers squad that had Roy Hibbert and David West.

If I face an elite post scorer and he's doing moves all day to get good looks and school me: score all your damn points down there.

If I face a guy who just spams turbo and runs around in the paint to try and get to the rim: no thanks rather watch HGTV.
