Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.

Played the demo and kind of have mixed feelings about it. Feels like it's not complete (in terms of the actual MyPlayer Builder) so I really didn't have the motivation to go beyond making my 6'7" Slashing Playmaker SG.

The way they grouped stuff together is just kinda weird

I am just curious what a higher “post moves” rating means under the playmaking umbrella

like maybe I should just embrace it and make a big guard that distributes and posts up. When I tried one of these I got Baron Davis. prime baron davis was a mean mother****er.....

Another picture. Someone uploaded a few on Reddit.
Seems like we might be able to still choose the team we start with. I thought they since we could get drafted, they would go with the old format. But it may be just your play before Draft dictates how much VC you earn and what teams are interested.

I've always been one to get my badges up before hitting up the park. Mycareer has always felt like a job, and after playing the demo I hate the AI even more. Might be the first year I buy vc to 85 and jump right in the park

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.

Think I found the player I'll roll with. This will be the first year in a while I'm gonna dive into MyPlayer, so I don't really know if its ideal or not, and who knows how it'll feel after October 1st after a month of twitter crying.

6'11 Center, labeled a glass cleaner, slightly longer wingspan but not max.
At 99 overall the only attributes over 80 are:
85 Standing Dunk
80 Post Fade
87 Block
80 Off Reb
87 Off Reb

Also has 70 3 Point Shot
73 Hook
65 Post Moves

Like I said who knows about patches but right now that feels the best balance for me as big. I try to create a player in the mold of how I play IRL, so ideally I'd like to have more shooting, a little less defensive rebounding, a little more ball handling but not that great, alot more passing, and more skill in the post. But this guy feels pretty balanced even athletically.
I'm not getting excellent releases with him with a 70 open 3, so maybe for now shooting ratings are a little bit more necessary this year... for now.

Some cool outcomes I hadn't seen, especially the compared players

Pass-First Wing was easily the best for me

You want a big that can rebound, defend, shoot, and finish? Probably want to be able to post fade also?

THE MOST DOMINANT BIG IN NBA HISTORY was Shaq. Hands down. Not even close.

Shaq caught the ball in the post in his LA days, he was scoring no matter what. You could double, triple, and he would finish over you or through you.

But the man was an absolute snail end to end. Towards the end of his career he literally DID NOT play defense. He played one end of the court. But STILL was putting up 18-8 WAY past his prime.

Shaq NEVER made shots consistently outside 8 feet. Struggled with free throws. Was an average rebounder his ENTIRE career for his size, and was horrible defending smaller, quicker players.

You want to go more recent? Sure...

Lets to KP because he is BY FAR the most versatile player you mentioned and ia SEVEN THREE.

KP has been a HORRIBLE rebounder for his size. 6rpg at 7'3 is awful. He gets bullied by players like Drummond on the glass. He might get you a block or two on defense but thats almost exclusively due to his size.

Shooting? Sure... Post? Absolutely. Finishing? Can dunk but isnt finishing THROUGH or OVER people like a Giannis. And though QUICK for his size, guards will just blow past him because... Well.... Physics.

.

You make some valid points but what you are ignoring is that height automatically allows you to defend the rim and rebound. Roy Hibbert and Hassan Whiteside are perfect examples. Both are terrible athletes but when you are 7’3+ you naturally get blocks and rebounds because you stand under the basket all game. I’m not a fan of builds over 6’11 but I’ll be an idiot to use a 6’10 big against the flooded 7’3 rim protectors or glass cleaners that existed last year. The problem is with 2K not being able to create proper physics of speed and acceleration. So instead of figuring that out, they give huge attribute boosts to small players. This applies to guards as well.

I never said being an elite dunker like Giannis, an elite rebounder like Drummond, an elite rim protector like Gobert or a marksman like Dirk. However, the league is filled with 6’10 to 7 footers than can stretch the floor and play with their back to the basket (though there are only a few Post players left in the NBA due to Russ and Harden’s of the league). By virtue of being 6’10 and playing under the basket, they will get blocks and rebounds. A 50 driving dunk, 70 rebound and 70 block is fine with me if I can have low 70 3pt and mid 80 post moves. This build does exist in 2K20 but with the latest news, this whole conversation is pointless because we have no clue what will be in the actual release.

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.

I don't see how anyone can seriously test out a myplayer when all the animations besides jumpshots given are generic, I can't pick my dribble pull up, my spin shots, my dribbles, not even my layup package.

Some of you guys are testing your build at 99, realize the starting cap is like 86.

Most of your builds will look utterly garbage at 86 with the inability to do most things. To get to a 99, you have to get to a 95, and then play good consistently. Don't make a build based on what its going to be at 99 when you might even struggle to reach 95 in the first place
