    Turbo as a strategic move...

Now I really love this move by 2k. There was this guy many many years ago that suggested getting rid of turbo all together. I think it was Pared that suggested this. I liked the idea but I wanted full control of speed just with the left stick and the more you use full speed you lose more stamina. Plus this frees up the turbo button for something else.

It's going to take a whole lot of stick skills just using the left stick for full speed movement. I asked Mike about this and he said the community was not ready for it lol.

I just hope they stick with this turbo strategy thing this whole year and not change it when Twitter cries. I've disciplined myself from not using turbo years ago against the CPU when someone pointed out that turbo would trigger some animation where the CPU would stonewall you.

*FACTS*.. There's only 2 situations where I use turbo fastbreaks and after a pump fake driving to the hoop! I like the fact that the MORE turbo you use...the more stamina gets drained.

On the other hand gatorade boost will be a lot more valuable to get on your player as well and it ain't gonna be cheap on VC to sustain to keep on your player for competative games along with skill boosts.

Yh I also like this move by 2k. Makes things a bit more realistic imo. It doesn't really affect ppl that played realistic and didn't hold turbo for everything, but newbies and turbo spammers are gonna cry. Hopefully 2k stays firm with the decision.

I'm with you--I say let's see how it plays out.

I said this in another thread, but what if this also resolves guys doubling down and then unrealistically recovering to contest 3pters? Or defenders going for chase-downs on every break away attempt? Hell its worth it for those two possibilities alone.

If you look at Maziques videos he kind of had to curb the habit of turboing down court on higher levels...I really hope we stick with this ideology..

I like it. I just watched Czars 2k20 Sprinting in Transition video and it looks like it will fundamentally change the way we play.

It’s a great addition, but when dribble gawds and turbo spammers actually see that they can’t get away with their BS, it will be hard for Mike to stick to his guns.
It makes the game much more realistic.
I definitely had to adjust, the first 5 or 10 games I was dead by the fourth quarter the last few games I pretty much had full stamina in the fourth quarter.
It’s definitely not an issue if you play it correctly.

Re: Turbo as a strategic move...

Completely removing Sprint in the past and we got NBA Elite. .. Which was garbage, and so was the two stick dribbling.

The speed bursts have to be done right for it to work, but 2k was always working with subtle moves if you weren't sprinting all the time, but the movement just wasnt up to par overall IMO.

Not being able to explode or the movement not being snappy enough didn't feel good at all previously.

Btw, those YouTubers videos all look the exact same because all they do is Sprint down court, don't call plays and crossover until something happens.

They're going to be Big mad.

Re: Turbo as a strategic move...

LeBron even insinuated during the 2018 playoffs or something that 2k’s turbo mechanism was unrealistic at the time. People think these athletes can just drive/turbo to the hoop and everywhere all game long. But if you’ve ever watched lebron and Michael Jordan in their older states they conserve energy and picked their spots. Now young lebron and young Mike? Freaks.

Even Olympian sprinters can only maintain top speed for like 2 seconds before their muscles rapidly fatigue.

I found myself choosing my spots in the myplayer game. When I was a slasher, I could take over for a few minutes. But then I would rest and let the offense do some work itself. Basically like Kawhi in the Finals. Choose and maximize your spots.

Love the way they wanna handle turbo, but my fear is, that the 3 Gatorade energy boosts, one can buy in the mycareer online modes, will offset the penalty and there are enough people on this game, who don't mind spending another 50 dollar to get and advantage.

But for 5v5 with NBA teams it sounds great

they were killing mike on twitter when he made the announcement. I guess most of the fan base doesnt realize even the nba is played at a controlled pace even if they're elite athletes. I hope they stick to their guns and force people to adjust.
