Surprised to see such a negative review considering the gameplay is as good as I can ever remember it being and the new lighting has this game looking better than any sports game out there....... understanding it has tons of little bugs but that seems to be the norm everywhere in the genre anymore, for a offline guy this game is a easy 8.5

Reviews online so far have been less than stellar for NBA 2K20.* Feels like they took a step back this year. Not a good sign for 2K. While I do agree there are improvements like Mike said there are technical issues, defensive AI, passing and rebounding problems. It's a shame the game launched with all these problems. Like Mike stated hopefully the patches will sort out these problems.

I'm very happy with the game so far. It seems MOST of the issues are in MyCareer/Park play. I'm a MyLeague guy so I only play the other modes until I can start MyLeague and to get a few trophies. Is anyone else if the opinion that 2K should make two separate games? One that's strictly NBA and maybe WNBA and one for the Park people? I mean MyLeague people don't really play much Park and Park people certainly aren't playing MyLeague.

IGN gave it a 7.8 as well. The gameplay has been great (could be improvements like shots going in too much) but the failure has been non gameplay things, shame for the group that worked on the gameplay

There’s tons of players who play Myplayer as an avenue to Pro-Am or Rec so not all are “Park People”. I’m not sure on the exact split between Myplayer online players and everyone else but I sense it might be a lot more skewed to the former than you think.

maybe they can have different gamplay settings..if Park people want speed, give it to them..keep the myplayer NBA games unchanged

This is why I never pre order or buy NBA 2K on release day.  It's the same thing every year with the online portion of the game,  and 2K are only making things worse by releasing the game earlier and earlier every year.   Here's an idea 2K,  how about having an open beta to test things early on, then instead of dropping that useless Prelude demo, how about dropping a demo with some of the online features available, to test your servers and see what you're working with before the game is released.  Finally,  what is the big rush to release this game so early?  Especially when the online portion of the game is virtually unplayable.  The end of September or early October would be the ideal release.

I also think it’s time to push the release date back .....first week of October.

I should have said online. I think there's probably more people who buy the game for the online modes. I've seen and talked to people who literally don't need the "NBA" part of the game at all because everything they do on the game has to do with their MyPlayer. They never touch MyGm or MyLeague. If they seperated it into two games I think the game with your MyPlayer would sell more. I just trying to please everyone with the all in one experience they try now leads to more problems.

Sorry did i understand you correct? NBA2K20 is for an offline guy a 8.5??????

There is only one offline mode right now (MyLeague) if i'm correct. And don't even mention that MyGM mutated into something like a mobile game....

For me it's crystal clear: 2K lost earthiness. The greed and all the millions of dollars make them blind, complacent ... they need to re-concept the direction of NBA2K... They will lose more loyal fanbase...

All over the web very bad consumer reviews (Look @ Steam or metacritic)

I'm fine with what you're saying in the grand scheme of things, but the bolded is not a good way to prove that point. It's more common for a video game to be pooped on in the consumer reviews than not because you mostly only get angry people leaving the reviews, and there can be a vast array of sometimes downright bizarre reasons for why some small subset of the community decides to tank a review score on those platforms.

I stopped reading at precisely THIS point....
Another big win for NBA 2K20’s MyGM is that, unlike last year, it takes less than a minute of cutscenes to get into the meat of the mode. There are no Sandersons or Tex cutscenes to slog through, instead it’s a quick meeting with the team governor and into the heart of MyGM.
Anyone who played MyGM last yearknows there were two flavors of MyGM and only one had the story mode, so if you picked the vanilla version - like I did - you didn’t have to wait a second. By way of contrast, this years version has only one option and by any measure that’s a downgrade.

He also doesn’t mention being locked at 6 min quarters which immediately puts your team and player stats out of step with everyone else in the league because they are simmed at 12 min.

In the previous paragraph he stated he didn’t know whether it was a popular mode here, but as a sim community and a thread currently running many pages long discussing the issue it wouldn’t require much to figure out that it is.

Not being critical, just pointing out a few things.

Lots of things on here have multi-page threads, especially if they get changed at all. It's not really a good barometer for popularity, even on here.

I agree with the comment about consumer reviews.  I saw videos last year on YouTube about the MyLeague/MyGM blog where people where saying why is it even in the game.  Why doesn't 2K just focus on The Park and online play?  I'm was like seriously?  The game is called NBA 2K.  Those people need a separate game I think.
