Re: NBA 2K22 Screenshots

Honestly, and not trying to sound like a negative Nancy, but it’s pretty clear there is no actual graphical enhancement here. Slight improved details MAYBE but this appears to be a color and shading enhancement that could’ve been handled with a patch.

Looking at the Bulls jersey which I’ve spent a ton of time tweaking in my tv settings, it’s a bit richer but it’s exactly how it looks when I get my TV settings right. And it’s still a bit too orange looking for a proper Bulls red, which is the exact problem I run into when I push the color/saturation up on my TV settings with 2K21 next gen.

I don’t see a color overhaul here. It appears to be shading and saturation tweaks.

tf are you talking about? Did you even read my comment? I was talking directly to scottyp180 about him saying all he needed to see as far as acceptable improvements in the game. What he said was very entry level things that should automatically be fixed. He didn't say anything about actual issues that matter like gameplay. Then I informed him about the development infrastructure. Then I said another factual statement when talking about having a year under their belt now of working with next gen hardware so it should unlock new things for them to utilize.

Everything I said was a fact. Not opinion. You clearly struggle to interpret basic level sentences because I literally didn't complain or whine about a single thing. What I talk highlight when speaking about issues with the game are not even remotely close to nitpicking. The contest system is terrible. The game is animation based and has been for 5 years. There is no defensive system especially when guarding the perimeter 1v1. You just try and position yourself close enough to the ball handler to trigger a body up animation. Player movement on the court was a big topic they hit on before last years next gen release. New and improved player movement and it feels so realistic on the court and you move where you want to be instead of a slight tap in the LS moving your player 13 feet blah blah blah. Well the game came out and the player movement was nearly identical as it has been. There is no true feel when moving around the court (talking about pro-am/rec). It looks and feels unnatural. Full court dime passes off rebounds still in the game. Literally 7 players in the NBA are capable of making that pass consistently. Catch animations off passes that I have never seen in basketball in real life at any level. One hand no look catch then spinning 360 degrees before finally gathering for a shot.... All of these things are not examples of whining. They are major issues with the gameplay that make the experience much less enjoyable. Issues that have been in the game for years. Try and argue that any of the things I listed are just me whining and complaining.. I would love to see how you'd try and accomplish that.

Also, NBA2K was never on Sega Genesis...........

People don’t always realize from watching on TV, these NBA guys are super slender.

Do you by chance remember one of the 2k games from a few years ago when the player models were "slim" ? It looked a mess visually and we complained about it loudly. I don't think super slender would look good on the video game. Everybody being jacked is not a good look either.

I'm probably not sharing this picture the right way but hopefully the link works. It's KD 2k16 vs 2k17. 2k17 was way too slim, 2k16 was too jacked. The shoulders and super body is more football player than basketball player.

The body models aren't perfect now, definitely room for improvements, but I think they are a lot better than they have been in the past. Others might disagree but the models currently don't jump out to me as being distractingly bad like they did in the 2 examples I shared.

Wow KD looks nothing like himself in those two games.

I'm not a huge stickler when it comes to stuff like body types but those 2K17 ultra skinny bodies really hurt the experience for me. They were so bad, lol

I'm the same way. It's not an immersion killer for me if some things are a little off like body types, jersey colors, etc. I expect that from a videogame. But the skinny bodies were distractingly bad and then with the jacked bodies I couldn't unsee them once they were pointed out to me. The current body types might be off but, imo, they aren't distractingly bad for the most part.

Like I said in another post I've been playing games since NES. I assume I'm not alone when I say a lot us "older" gamers (31 isn't that old is it?) are used to suspending our disbelief and using our imagination to kind of fill in those immersion breaking areas. Before there were face scans just seeing a players name and, depending on the year, a somewhat respresentive character on the court was enough Ex: Shaq being bigger, bald, and having black skin was enough for our minds to believe that was Shaq. I remember playing an early PS2 2k game and being blown away because I could recognize Paul Pierce and Kobe by their face.

Then before there were signature shots and animations I would use my imagination to fill that in too. It didn't matter if every player had the same shot animations, maybe a few variations if anything, because I knew how they shot in real life so I just imagined them shooting that way.

I find it interesting that as we get closer and closer to photorealism there seems to be two type of people: those that hone in on the inaccuracies and those that appreciate how close we are. I wonder if it mostly comes down to age and the time period people grew up playing videogames.
