Started a Cavs 'chise post-decision with updated rosters on (the 3rd difficulty, I'm drawing a complete blank as to what its called
), 82 games and 12 minute quarters with custom sliders.
I started off by switching Mo Williams over to a 2 gaurd because it fit his play style (also bumped up his OVR +3 points). Then I traded Mo to the Mavs for a first round pick and Tyson Chandler because I desperately needed depth/size in my front court.
Then I traded Antawn Jamison to New Orleans for another first round pick and Peja Stojakovic because he had a fat contract just like Jamisons, but it came off the books after 1 year.
Then I shipped Joey Graham off to OKC for Kevin Ollie and a second round pick.
I also traded away Anderson Varejao to someone, but I can't remember who... but anyway heres what my starting five/bench looked like for year one:
PG: Ramon Sessions
SG: Anthony Parker (ugh)
SF: Jamario Moon (no offense at all, but a good defensive stopper)
PF: J.J. Hickson
C: Tyson Chandler
6th Man: Flip Murray (signed him to come off the bench and provide some offense, and he did just that with 14.7 PPG and 3 REB and 2.1 AST)
Backups were:
PG: Danny Gibson
SG: Christian Eyenga
SF: Danny Green
PF: Leon Powe (another defensive player)
C: Ryan Hollins
Simmed the first year, and wound up 26-56 (second worst in the league, next to LACs 23-59 record) and landed the 2nd projected draft pick. Entered the lottery and won the first overall pick. I also had the 17th, 26th, and 30th picks.
Anyway, the Thunder (#2 seed) and Heat (#1 seed) made it to the finals, where the Heat won 4-1.
I started off the offseason by resigning Chandler to a 3 year, 13 mil deal (with the 4th year a team option) and cut Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon.
I had my eye on 3 players I wanted in the draft, the first was a 6'9 238 lbs. SF named Aex Hall who had an A in almost every category except rebounding (C). The second was a 6'5 219 lbs. SG named Leon Flowers who has a great offensive game, but is a little lacking on the defensive side of the ball (but he has 89 potential) and the third was a 7'3 295 lbs. monster of a center named Claude Carr who has a decent mid range jumper.
I drafted Alex Hall #1, traded the 17th pick and my second round pick for the 7th overall pick to grab Leon Flowers from right under the Pistons nose (they had the 8th pick and were projected to take him) and then traded the 30th pick and Jamario Moon for the 19th pick and took Claude Carr.
Then, if free agency I signed Shannon Brown to bring that explosive scoring threat that my team missed since LeBron left.
So now my starting five looks like:
PG: Ramon Sessions
SG: Shannon Brown
SF: Alex Hall
PF: J.J. Hickson
C: Tyson Chandler
6th Man: Flip Murray (looking to possibly trade him for someone with more range, I've been driving inside and kicking it out in recent game and Flips missed some open shots from downtown)
Backups look like this:
PG: Danny Gibson (is a great depth player, he's the exact opposite of Sessions, I used Ramon as a driving/layup kinda guy because he has great handles but no range (ie Rondo, just nowhere near as good) and Gibson can come off the bench and fill it up from downtown)
SG: Leon Flowers
SF: Jason Kapono (another deep threat)
PF: Leon Powe
C: Claude Carr
I started the season last night, and played the 'Cats in CHA for my opener. I got decimated the first half (was down 54-38 at half) but made some lineup adjustments and came out and starting getting stops on the defensive end and scoring on the offensive end and ended up molly-whopping them, 103-87. Then I come home for my home opener against none other than...the freakin' Miami Heat. I hung with them for a little, but I would fall behind by like 15 points at times and would have to wait until they subbed somebody out to start getting close again, but once it'd get within like 4, theyd sub the NB3 (New Big 3) in and I'd fall behind. Ended up losing 118-107. I abused them in the post though, Chandler went off for like 28 and 13 boards. But in the end Bosh murdered me with 32 PTS and 12 boards. I held LeBron in check (kinda) to 17 PTS, 6 REBs, and 4 ASTs and Wade only scored 10 PTS.
Alex Hall is just a beast in the low post though, hes one of the best low-post scorers I've seen (especially for a SF) and hes also great defensively. His jumped needs some work, but its serviceable right now. In the CHA game, he had 13 PTS, 11 REBS, 4 Blocks, 4 ASTs and 1 steal and against Miami he had 17 PTS, 7 REBS, 2 Blocks and 6 ASTs. Once I get his jumpers going, he'll be a force to be recokoned with since he can dominate the post.
And Shannon Brown has been everything I wanted and more, Scoring over 20 PTS in both games so far. He's got the speed and explosive scoring ability I was looking for. Not to mention he has a decent jumper to go along with his driving/finishing ability.
