For or Against adding in dunk contest, 3 pt contest, and skills contest

I was wondering what everyone's take was on the contests during the all star break. Would you guys be for or against adding in the following:

Dunk
3 pt
skills

And if only one could be added in, which would you like to be put in? Any idea how the button or stick system could be implimented into the contests to make it a challenge but possible to do?

I would like to see the skills contest added in just because you really get to see how good your guards are on their ball handling, passing, shooting speed, etc. It's also an excellent tool to scout out possible team players

Well the 3 point and dunk contest are already in the game just not in the association. I don't think the dink contest would be as fun in the association just because it is so easy to do dunks. I was dining over a car last year in 2k10.

I do think the skills and 3 point contest would be great add in for the association.

I would be for adding the skills challenge. Would be difficult to do in the game but it would probably be a lot of fun. I only put this above dunk contests because, no matter what game it is, I always come in last place in dunk contests. I'm just no good at them. If they added all 3 of those though that'd be fantastic.

For: It's a nice addition that many people have been asking for years. Gives more variety for people who like different modes and Allstar stuff.

Against: I personally don't care about it, and even in older games (Live 2004 and 2005, for example) hardly touched it. It just doesn't seem interesting to me, but that's just my opinion, and that's wht I did write a "For" paragraph. However, a skills contest may be the best fit to a video game, in my opinion.




I think the NBA is going to add something new to the Allstar weekend soon: a Flopping Challenge. A duo of 2 players from the same team will try to flop and pretend there was a hard foul against eachother. Each team will have 90 seconds to try and get as many calls as possible from the ref. The 2 teams with the most calls advance to the final round. They can call it "Flopping Stars".

Why would someone ever be against adding these events? It would serve the same purposes as the real-life Allstar weekend activities do, which is a fun little break from the grueling season, with a chance to see/do something a little different and fun.

If EA comes out with a NBA game next year (pretty sure they will) then the chances of 2K having it in are very slim to none. EA signed an exclusive deal to have NBA All Star weekend in NBA Live. Sony had an exlusive deal for the skills challenge but I don't know if it is still active anymore now that Taco Bell is the sponsor for the skills challenge now and Sony doesn't have a game anymore.

Did not know that. However, the Blacktop never really made any sense to me. Just make the dunk cont. and 3-p comp. take place in an arena (perhaps the very same arena the all-star weekend is held that year) and call it something else.

I'de like to see a longer time limit for the dunks. Make it 2 min like the Slam Dunk Contest or make it three attempts. I always panic like an *******.

Also make speed and distance a factor. I don't think you should be able to pull off a dunk from the free throw line when you start your run from the three-point line.

As far as the Skill Challenge goes, eh I don't really care. Maybe you could use some kind of rhythm based control for the bounce pass, old school hit the middle of the X and Y axis for the passes. The dribbling part, the jumpshot and layup is pretty self explanatory.
