NBA 2k12 Ratings Reasonable Explanation

I have been thinking about kobe having 78 midrange jumper while amare has 88 and i have come up with only one explanation:

Hot spots.

It can be Everywhere is a hot spot for kobe which gives some additional points to the actual ability (just a guess +15?)

While it has been lots of cold spots for amare which makes the opposite. ?

i wonder if this can be a reasonable answer? ( if so it still doesnt explain how josh smith has better passing than monta ellis )

I know people around here seems to hate Rashidi for some reason, but I think he broke it down pretty well in his blog.

or it just means 2k thinks that their ratings are supposed to be correct, which is worse actually.. ah well.. and yeah i just dont get all the hate on rashidi lol..

I love Kobes game but Amares midrange was just lethal last year !
Kobe misses alot of midrange he is very streaky .
NOT hating on kobe at all probably respect him as a player the most since MJ .
He is an assassin !

based on that article, seems like 2k didn't analyze anything with regards to quality of shot taken in the real NBA.

these shooting stats should mean how good they are shooting the same shot as everyone else instead of their numbers in real life. i'm pretty sure kobe is better than amare if you put them both in a gym and let them shootout from 'mid' range

But again like in the other thread.... Kobe med range is 78 but he probably has the highest shoot off the dribble and shoot in traffic rating for a shooting guard. While Amare on the other probably has a very high Med range because he actually takes more spot up jumpers compared to Kobe who probably takes and make most of his med jumper off the dribble. I bet you Kobe can hit way more tougher jumpers than Amare in a game situation.

Med range is a base rating. The supporting ratings are SOD and SIT. And that's where Kobe is great at.

Last year in 2k11 I played with someone 2001-2002 rosters. But when I saw Iverson med range rating was 70.... This was after dropping 50 plus with severally times lol... But his SOD and SIT were 99...

I'm just curious about knowing who is the crazy guy who decided to give Zabian Dowdell a 90 in mid range, Pooh Jeter a 95, and Brandon Roy a 71???

What are those other guys SOD and SIT ratings?... I bet you a brand new copy of NBA 2K12 that they can't score like Kobe or Brandon Roy can.

i find it backwards that the mid rating doesnt indicate how well someone can shoot a STANDARD jump/set shot from that distance but rather how well they shot ANYTHING from that distance in the nba...

i guess the ratings is also saying that if kobe was open at 20 ft, it's less important to run at his jumper than running at drew gooden...

Amare did develop a deadly mid range game since the second to last year (I think) in Phoenix.

there is no reasonable explanation for things such as Gerald Wallace being rated the same as LaMarcus Aldridge.

Idc how good at defense 2k thinks G-Wallace is... to say he's as good overall as Aldridge is absurd.

No that is not what those ratings are saying smh..... 2k defiinely has something going in the background. Because like I said. When I found out that Iverson had a med range of 70. I was completely shocked because if you left him open it was going down. And plus I bet you the other guys you mentioned don't have the same consistenty rating that BRoy and Kobe. Iverson was 99


Edit: Stop looking at the overall ratings or one single rating and comparing it to another players same rating. You need to look at the whole picture.

to further elaborate on my question...

given those three players being open at mid range, it'd be less beneficial to run at brandon roy then the other 2 guys. roy has the ability to blow by my guy and get himself or someone else a dunk/layup from inside range, so why should i run at him and instead let him take his 71 rating mid range jumper?

edit: does this also mean that we should be rotating off of kobe/roy more than rotating off of the other guys in this list with 90-99 mid range?

It doesnt matter either way u cut it, Kobe has a 78 mid range. If I left Drew Gooden wide open compared to Kobe wide open, Drew would hit more times out of 100 than Bryant. Now I ask u, what sense does that make? ...Exactly no sense b/c Kobe Bean Bryant has the 2nd deadliest mid range game of all time behind MJ. And thats a fact you all must accept.
