I find it odd that this has never been brought up or discussed on the forums as it's a huge issue that albeit doesn't occur regularly but can really hurt you in a timely fashion. Have any of you ever experienced this, I know first hand that I have along with my friends.

Catch and shoot delay
Why is there a delay when you work for an open shot? I'll drive hard with Crawford then kick it out to Batum (wide open) behind the arc only for him to not respond to my input of shooting the three? It happens on fast break three's as well and is quite annoying as it completely messes up your momentum (cause it delays then it will make you go up completely messing up the shot timing).

Re: Catch and shoot delay
There is an odd global delay to all input, I think. You can do this test on your 360. Scroll up and down any menu for a few seconds to get used to the timing. Then press the middle button to bring up the 360 dashboard. Scroll up and down and you week notice that it is instant compared to a slight delay in the 2k menus. -
Re: Catch and shoot delay
Yes. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's extremely frustrating. P-Dub, it's not just a general delay, it's an instance where you press shoot off of a catch and your player just stands there for a second or two, then puts up the shot. It seems to go away after a few possessions however.Comment

Re: Catch and shoot delay
it's not the shot that is delayed...it's the "catch animations" that cause the delay...certain catch animations are way too slow or long and they cause your player to pause and gather the ball before you can control him or shoot. some of them are ok, but some of the catch animations are just too long and need to be shortened.Comment

Re: Catch and shoot delay
Are you kidding me? When I played online in 2k11, it felt like I was playing a stop-motion film. My input would register a full second late, and jumpshot timing was NON EXISTANT. You just had to guess when to release, because the game wouldn't respond to your input right away anyways.
But in 2k12, playing online feels like I'm playing offline. My input registers right away, and my jumpshots are timed exactly the same as they are offline. It's completely seamless for me, and it's a complete improvement from 2k11.
I stopped playing 2k11 online after about 5 games. 2k12, I don't think I'll stop until 2k13 drops.Comment

No there is no juggle, he just catches it and doesn't shoot when you ask him to then goes up late messing up the timing completely.it's not the shot that is delayed...it's the "catch animations" that cause the delay...certain catch animations are way too slow or long and they cause your player to pause and gather the ball before you can control him or shoot. some of them are ok, but some of the catch animations are just too long and need to be shortened.
This is what I've noticed as well, I wish we could get to the bottom of it as I'm tired of working for a good shot to have this happen. If we figured it out I'm sure we could get it fixed (this year or next).Last edited by Find_the_Door; 01-06-2012, 06:50 PM.Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira - UFC Hall of FameComment

Re: Catch and shoot delay
I first noticed this in 2k11 and it's even worse in 2k12. If you go back to 2k10, you will notice that there is basically zero delay in a catch and shoot, even if you are directional passing someone to the corner for example. I guess the delay is to make it more "realistic" when passing to a moving teammate, but it's unneccessary for a stationary teammate, IMO. OP, which are you talking about?Comment
