    Fumbling Passes

This is one of the things 2K puts in the game to make it look realistic. But this is the NBA people shouln't be fumuling the ball when someone passes it to them a few yards away. It happens like 6 times a game (if your a run plays/pass around) kind of guy. And 4 out of those 6 times its a T.O

Not to mention every time someone cuts to the rim and you pass the ball the juggle it and end up in a awkward position.

This is really frustrating. It's as if everyone has Kwame Brown hands. Sure bad passes are thrown and fumbles happen in the real NBA, but it occurs too often in 2K. The worst part is how exaggerated the fumble animations are.

      LOL @ Keep practicing.

yeah....the bobbled catch animations happen WAY too often. it seems like this was 2k's attempt to cut down points in the paint...when you pass to a teammate in the paint he bobbles the pass so you lose the scoring opportunity...by the time he finally gathers the ball he's got 2 defenders swarming him - b.s. i'm fine with this happening occassionally, but it happens way too much.

Yep. One of the many annoyances they decided to add to this year's game. It happens a ton when passing to open bigs under the hoop. It's stop, pivot, bobble, do a pirouette, a couple squats, the hokey-pokey, then finally gather. Opportunity lost.

Passes that happen in the paint to bigs DO happen a lot. But the problem is that they need to ease up on the 5 foot bullet passes, more finesse passes need to be added or more bumping in the paint so passes are not too accurate...

Its not just in the paint, it happens on up-court passes to me all the time. Guys fumble and fall out of bounds with them, would be nice if they added more bounce basses to the game

Family 2k doesn't do the let's bobble to fix something else. It is a gameplay element added to increase the sim nature of the game. If it is happening too often it is merely a tuning issue.

There are lot's of bobbles in the NBA if your watching for them. yes lot's is relative. LOL The issue may be that more good players are having too many bobbles. Without bobbles at all though your playing an arcade game. The bobbles are there as a gameplay element so that you can't just make any type of pass with any type of player ... It adds risk reward. But again the balance could and in this case I agree IS off.

But it is NOT a sinister attempt to screw the user over. LOL

This is the main place it happens too often. It's like you can't hit them on them move they have to be stationary.

This is one of those online offline issues though. If you completely remove bobbles and give great bounce passes cheeser will be unstoppable. Some may not care but others might.

But now the problem is that it's rewarding the off-ball camper. If he loses track off his man I can't punish him for it because of the constant fumbles. I understand it's a issue of balancing, but from my experience they always go from one extreme to the other.

I blame this drastic shift on the animations they add to fix the imbalance. The animations tend to be extra long and dramatized. Instead of a natural looking bobble, we get a choreographed dance routine. Another example of this are the canned on-ball steal animations they added in 2K9 and have yet to be removed. They look like they belong in a game like NBA Street, not an NBA sim.

Okay okay. but here is the sim aspect there are different degrees of bad passes and they depend on the passing rating of the passer. SO there are some bobbles that if working correctly you won't or shouldn't see with the better passers. It's really a deep system that may just need to be adjusted.

That is the sim aspect I was talking about. You can make riskier passes with elite passers and get away with it. Where with poorer passers your window for non bobbled passes are much smaller.

So like I said it's a tuning of the feature issues. There are also consequences for not having bobbled passes ( which happen in real games) as the offense has too much of an advantage and no penalty for poor passes.

Those long and dramatized animations you talk about should be limited to the worst passes from the worst passers.

Throw up some video in this thread and we can evaluate the quality of the the pass that would prove more relevant than just blanket statements about passing in general then maybe we can help the dev's see where the tuning needs to occur.

Only time I get bobbles is with my bad bigs. Like Jeffries almost always bobbles while on the run.

                            Re: Fumbling Passes

i think its a lil less of an issue than we understand. in the process of tweeking our sliders i noticed a lot of bobbled passes also BUT a lot of them were due to my playing that i had never noticed & what Czar is speaking of.

example: jumping to pass or passing while in full sprint with a "not so great passer" does not allow them to throw the MOST accurate pass; ths a bobbled catch by the receiver. (if you critique your playing as a user you'll realize that we do this far more often then we thought

same scenario with a more skilled passer & the risk of an inaccurate pass are a lot less.

i like the fact that i forces me to make the correct pass at the correct time. those things make GOOD basketball simulation.

I can understand 2K for putting this in the game but the problem is as soon as the button is hit the player starts doing the animation.

If it was directional passing I can understand but a regular 5ft pass no way..

Also it happens to the user around 7 times a game and most of them are to players with great hands.
The cpu can throw a long pass to Kwame Brown but if I throw one to Melo he starts the animation to slow down my offense or stop me from scoring.

                              Online this happens a lot!
