NBA 2K13: Finding the Right Gameplay Blend With Sliders

Firstly, let me tell you what this is not: a post about the best slider sets out there or even one about what makes for the best slider set. There are plenty of thoroughly researched and test-driven slider sets up on 2K Share — many of them from OS users who have crafted great matched sets of rosters and sliders for. As a starting point, I highly recommend looking into mkharsh33's slider set, which seeks, among other things, to help the problem of the CPU grabbing defensive rebounds and taking off on unstoppable fast breaks — a real problem, in my opinion. But look at the headline again: the right gameplay blend will be the right one for you.

Nice post, too bad of course that 2K REMOVED the ability to download slider sets from 2K Share.

Did they take away the ability to look at the sliders and apply them in your settings as well?

Yeah I was about to say that they took the slider download option away.

I wish Ronnie or LD2K would response to that. I don't see any good reason to remove that option.

2K is really good at removing proven and decent gameplay features. 3 steps forward, 4 steps back.

I agree...this was the WORST omission in the entire series. Slider sets are VITAL to the realism of the game. A REAL pain in the a$$ to write down (or print out slider sets) and then manually adjust. So time consuming ESPECIALLY if you end up not liking the slider set. I created a slider set that really works for me if anybody is interested. Pretty realistic in my opinion...but that's just me.

What I agree with is the MK slider sets. I was just about to return the game when I ran across the set and what people were saying and I absolutely enjoy the game now. The offensive rebounding seems realistic and the fast breaks happen still but they are real fast breaks! As I told him. Thanks for making this game enjoyable again! Its one of the best ever in my opinion with this slider set. PS3

Do they not research before writing an article? You cant download sliders anymore. Th is writer obviously had a deadline to meet and this is what we got? An article about using sliders to make the game fit your taste...duh.

What's the deal with people doing the "real shot %" on FGs and FTs? Does this mean that the release doesn't matter at all? If so, that's super garbage and I don't see why anyone would do that.

First: why would you care what someone else does with their game?

Second: Real Shot% does take into account release point. I can totally flub a free throw with a great shooter, and it'll miss most times. Seems to me you need to hit the release point accurately and then the player's real life % comes into effect.

Some people (myself included) like to let the player ratings matter more by taking a human element away that we could master in a mere few hours. We find more satisfaction in getting an open shot in our offense than hitting an open shot because we let go of a button at the right time. To each there own!

Real Shot % doesnt take into account release. You can HOLD the shot stick and never release it and the shot will go in if the player's FT% is high enough.

NBA 2K13 for PC would like a word or two with the devs also, I'm sure.

Just saying, but that IS how basketball works in real life, so you aren't alone here.
