Why are there fans who want Signature Skills removed and not return next NBA 2K?
Signature Skills was a huge addition this year. It adds and separate players from other players. This feature gave gameplay another level, to me. I would love for it to return with some fine tuning and additional skills next game. Your thoughts?Poe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Tags: None -

I personally love them and hope they bring them back with more added to it. One thing I'd love to see is some type of signature skill for veterans. There's a reason players like a Derek Fisher and Juwan Howard are kept on NBA rosters. The teams usually say due to the leadership they provide. I'd like that to be a certain type of signature skill. Something to give you a reason to keep old players around.Comment

Love them, it helps seperate role and star players that seem to be alike to actually play different from among each other and have there individual skills really stand out, instead of just relying on the players attributes and tendencies to define him.Last edited by STLRams; 11-30-2012, 04:02 PM.Comment

Re: Why are there fans who want Signature Skills removed and not return next NBA 2K?
I'm enjoying sig skills a lot. I admit that initially I thought this might be a little too arcadey/cheesy/Live-ish (yeah, I went there), but after seeing and using them for myself, I think it really does add another whole dimension to the gameplay.
Only thing is that sometimes I get TOO wrapped up in seeing which skills I trigger and cause to light up that it almost takes me out of my game. So every now and then I just have to remove the HUD from the screen for awhile, LOL. :o
But for those who don't like 'em, I could see it being an on/off option for '14 as was suggested upthread. I guess technically we could remove 'em now, but it'd be tedious to edit each and every player in the game (at least those who have sig skills) like that.Comment

they cool but some are just stupid. So carmelo is a better defender cause Chandler happens to be out there? How about Nash when Howard is in there? Also while i love TP, i doubt he magically make player better shooters but just being out there. In real life he create those shots with his driving and passing, not no damn magical skills that magically make Kwahi Lenoard and others better shooters.Comment

I like the idea, could be implemented better though, also I don't mind the ind. player ones, but the ones where other players get boosts are ridiculous. As someone mentioned, its stupid to get a boost just cause a player is on the court.
For floor general, I could see a slight boost to OAWR for players on the court, but that would be it, like +2 or +3 max.
For D. Anchor, I also agree that its stupid to have other players boosted just cause, again I could see a slight boost to DAWR but only that.
Also 2k needs to stop handing these out like candy on Halloween. Why the hell does Lin have floor general. Should that not be reserved for true Floor Generals ala CP3, Billups (maybe not anymore but for example), Nash, Rondo."Most people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't so busy denying them"Comment

Re: Why are there fans who want Signature Skills removed and not return next NBA 2K?
I think this is the real issue. Concerning "Floor General" and "Defensive Anchor" specifically, a Magic Johnson or a Dennis Rodman did have a residual effect on their teammates ... however, there should only be one Magic Johnson or Dennis Rodman in each generation. Charles Barkley was a great offensive force, but he did not have the same inspirational ability Magic did.
When it comes to the individual skills, if 2k further develops the system to allow a person to lose them over time, then I think it will enhance the experience. An example here is giving Vince Carter the finisher skill for his early career but having him lose it for his current skill set.Comment

I know Shake, I don't see why they would want this not in the game. It is no different than the skills in APF. Which for the record has been wanted in another football game badly, since it creates a difference between players.Comment
