    Does 2K promote cheese?

As the title says, do you think 2K promotes cheese by not fixing the issues caused when a new gameplay mechanic is added.

I'm starting to think so, 3's in general, Euro step 3's, Spin dunks, Up and Unders, Alley Oops, Blind full court passes and Overrated CPU defense.. none of them have been fixed. What do you guys think because I'm done defending 2K- NBA2K. Playing smart and having skill doesn't pay because you can lose to people that have no skill whatsoever.

Just because something isn't fixed doesn't mean they're not trying to fix it, or they're adding new features and something isn't fixed. I honestly feel like 2k needs someone that's a thorough roster maker and makes sure rosters are realistic.

im sure they're done fixing 2k13, now they are hard at work making new gameplay mechanics for 2k14 that will have a whole new slew of exploits, and they will fix some of them, then repeat the same cycle in 2k15... you're not used to this by now? maybe it's cause if been playing nba 2k since 1999

The fact that they added a self alley oop leads me to believe so.

I agree. The rosters are the downfall of 2k. 2k13 is a very very good game with the right rosters. However, that is not what we have now and the game suffers.

They added that because people on here asked for it, lol. They just didn't configure it properly in it's first year. Doesn't mean 2k is going towards the arcade side, also there are way more people that aren't sim, lol why do some people feel like 2k can't add things for the casual player? They still have to cater to the people that buy their product, I still say 2k is sim it had arcade stuff in it tho.

Dont think they promote all the cheesy tactics but they sure dont promote sim basketball anymore. They have gone to the casual pick up and play route.

Yeah...wouldn't say they really promote it, but they also don't care that much about certain moves being unstoppable and unbalanced sig skills giving mindless offensive behaviour even more of an advantage. I doubt 2k devs sit around thinking about how to make the game deliberately less realistic...but on the other hand, they also don't put much effort into giving us enough counters to cheesy tactics.

The self alley is a good example. Let's say they've listened to kids who saw this move on some T-Mac compilation and want to do this every game now. Does that mean it has to be effective? Hell no. Being able to try these moves is not the problem, but the comically high odds of succeeding no matter how unskilled you are. It would be easy to tone that stuff down.

2k can leave all the fancy spind dunks, self alleys and street moves in the game. But where's the problem with making them less effective? Realism doesn't mean forcing gamers into a certain direction by not including such moves. I mean Lebron could try a self alley on every single possession against the Spurs, and so should we in the game. He could, but it's pointless.
And that's where 2k fails. They don't balance things out. And it has gotten worse in 2k13. Everything you try simply connects. I don't have to care about anything. My opponent actually knows how to defend? Not a big deal, spam a PnR until I can trigger the self alley or spin dunk.
If you're into variety, you can mix things up by spamming up/unders in the post instead. That's 2k13 in a nutshell.

So I'd say that 2k doesn't "promote cheesing", but they're lazy as f*ck when it comes to implementing proper balancing and defensive counters for gamers who don't want to play NBA Jam 2k13.

I disagree, they always make developer diary's for the sim community, they stop by here to ask for our opinions.

I really wish my bigs would stay on their feet instead of flopping everytime someone goes for a shot near the rim. It isn't 2k12 bad, but I can still get knocked over by a player starting a layup from behind the free throw line with little momentum and make the basket while I'm called for a blocking foul.

I really wasn't trying to say that 2K wants people to cheese, but like Mango was saying there is no balance. I played this morning and this kid was able to consistently hit Euro 3's with JJ Redick and Brandon Jennings. Things like that just don't happen in a real game and 2k fails to understand that.

They need to drop that casuals should win too mentality and leave up to skill. The real lebron could barley get to the rim vs the Spurs, but the 2K Lebron can dunk at will warping and sliding through you. Unstoppable animations promote cheese and who makes the animations?? 2K

Why make unstoppable animations if you knew they would be exploited by casual players and kids. So it's kind like they knew but didn't really care of the out come.

Oh online, yeah I totally agree. It's like an arcade game online at times. I don't have a answer for why unstoppable moves are in the game, but people will find exploits regardless if 2k makes a "perfect" sim game. It's just the nature of video games.

Yep. If that were a game on 2K, LeBron would be shooting free throws for the blocking fouls called on the spurs for daring to clog the paint and get in his way. Continuation is still stupid at times, not 2K12 stupid, but still irritating.
