Re: [Buffalo Bills 2010] Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm

Guys, do me a favor. Can we stop talking about Rob Johnson please? I'm about to throw my laptop through the living room window.

Thanks.

So uh, why wasn't Fitzpatrick named starter at the beginning of the season?

Seriously, watching Trent Edwards the last couple weeks was like stone age football compared to what we saw today with Fitzpatrick. I have a hunch that some of the more "complicated" things Gailey wanted to do in Week 1 will be incorporated back into the offense with Fitzy under center.

I saw a lot of the games Fitzpatrick played when Plamer was injured for the Bengals and then all his Bills regular season snaps...

He's a solid career backup and nothing more...

I think the thought process was finding out if Edwards still had the skill set to be a legit franchise QB, which Fitzpatrick will never be...

I'd like to see "what's behind door number three" and see what Brohm is all about...

If he fails, bail on him and Edwards, draft a QB (solid draft class) and keep Fitzpatrick...

On another note:

Today the Bills show their front office ineptitude again, by singing 32 year old Chris Kelsey as a converted mediocre 3-4 LB...can't remember the numbers but they were outrageous for this caliber player...

On a humorus note:

When talking to my 80 plus year old Mom (lifetime Bills supporter) after the game, I said something to the effect of:

"Well if they lose 'em all, they finally get the first pick" (or something to that effect)...
)
Her response:

"So what, no matter who they pick, he'll turn out to be the wrong guy anyway"

Being a career backup who knows the offense and is willing to actually, you know, THROW THE DAMN BALL MORE THEN 5 YARDS! is better then what we had. Fitzy will be in the caregiver position for the rest of the year til they draft a QB. Who knows, he could probably get a few victories for us.

On that note, the Edwards Era is over as he's been released.

BTW your mom is really skeptical but she's right. The last GM in Buffalo who actually made good picks in the draft consistently was Butler. That's over 10 years ago!

Re: [Buffalo Bills 2010] Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm

I just saw that the Bills signed Chris Kelsay to a 4 year $24M extension. Just curious as to what you all thought about it. When I was able to watch them he always came off a good meat and potatoes kind of player. All out effort, tough, solid locker room guy, but he's never had more than 5.5 sacks in a season. Now the contract isn't exactly breaking the bank but with the Bills in a 3-4 and him playing linebacker, I'd think they'd want more of a premium pass rusher in that spot.

He's definitely a good locker room guy and gives it his all but he's older now and probably isn't a good fit in a 3-4. They could've found a younger LB IMO.

I honestly thought the Bills should have held onto Ryan Denney as a 3-4 DE over holding onto Chris Kelsay as an OLB. Maybe signing Kelsay to an extension like that is supposed to entice other players to want to play for Buffalo because they know if they give good effort they'll stay around? Real questionable extension if you ask me.
