NHL 2k21 - Clean Slate Roster

This is my “clean slate” roster for NHL2k10 (if you don't know what that means, take a look at my original progress thread here). Over 800 NHL players plus certain prospects have been created by overwriting players for appearance and/or play-by-play names. Each player has correct: height, weight, number, shooting hand, and nationalities. This project took just about 3.5 months from planning to initial release. More updates may be coming as they become necessaey.

AS A NOTE: This is meant to be a base for roster creators to use in the future with a clean(er) database than files that have been used up to this point. Ratings may not be the greatest but, can always be changed.

I am NOT a ratings guru and will never claim to be. Overalls in this file were not a main focus. Each player was rated based on individual ratings in categories more than overall. Goalie ratings have been created using shogun’s goalie edits as it has created a more all-around experience for better goaltending (in my opinion).

Some other notes about this file:
- File is good for quick game, season mode, playoffs, etc. Franchise is completely playable but birth dates and salary cannot be changed. You’ll see a lot of players retire after a season,
- Winnipeg and Vegas have been created
- Minor league teams are filled with some prospects that have been created and older retired players.
- All minor league teams have the following breakdown of players allowing teams to not hit limit: 12-13 forwards, 7-8 Defense, 2-3 goalies
- Transactions, waiver claims through 3/18/21 have been completed
- Lines for each team should closely resemble lines from 3/18/21 (minus those players that were not created).
- Visors have been added to all players except those that do not wear them (found a list on reddit- don’t remember their username but thank you!)
- For those interested, I've included the CSV for anyone who wants to see it or try to see if it is compatible with the PS3. You'd need to use snowdrift's 2k10 utility to import into your PS3file

Things to fix:
A. Rosters
- Dan Hamhuis is active for Nashville. That's an error and he can be dropped to FAs
- Eric Haula should be ERIK
- David Pastrnak should be R handed
- Jakob Sifverberg should be Silfverberg

B. Season mode:
- Wsh backstrom takes 0 penalties wins last byng every time (lower discipline)
- Erik Karlsson wins best defender in season mode (will examine)

Finally I had some time to test the new rosters with Venoms revamped sliders and I gotta say: Holy cow, both of you did an amazing job. The rosters are awesome, except my Red Wings are a bit too good [emoji23]
Well done, I had a blast playing in my nowadays rare free time. Thank you rangers9911 for taking all the time, creating.. maybe sometimes frustrating.. and sharing it with us.

Thanks Austrian! I hope to test the rosters out with venom’s 2021 sliders soon. Glad you enjoy it. Thanks for laying the groundwork with your rosters prior to me. I’m grateful to help the community.

In the future, edits may be made to this file or if someone edits it and posts another file. I’m hoping to work with tougie24 and the community to work to make this file the new standard. With the nhl all taken care of maybe an ahl update may be possible. For right now, I’m going to enjoy the game and finally play a bit instead of editing.

I'll get around to trying out these rosters. I might need to come up with a completely different set of sliders since the attributes were tweaked on these.

Great job rangers9911. Wish I had the time, energy and motivation to find out why the 2K11 roster edits aren't compatible with 2K10 in the editor.


I think I could be able to tweak the attributes for you using my stats and hutdb based formula if you're interested. I think it should just be a matter of exporting what I did from the 2K11 csvs into 2K10 csv by keying on the names.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. If it wasn’t for you, this community wouldn’t be here. I’m a rookie in this 2k world just glad to help. Also, I’m using the 2nd post of this thread for fixes. I noticed two things that I haven’t noticed before when simming seasons (outside of the crazy trade requests). If you notice anything, please post and I’ll see what may need to be done.

Thanks Mol! Hope you enjoy them. After a few dozen or so games, I'm looking to see how I can tweak ratings a bit. In season mode, I'm finding some randomness regarding scoring leaders and some other things that I'm not overly happy about. So, I'm examining a few different ways to see how I can be more on point regarding player's abilities. I'm not an extreme analytics guy but, that approach may be more helpful should I decide to edit this some more.

Just fired these rosters up with Venom's sliders. What a game! I had to relearn how to dump the puck and such. Here is what I miss so much from playing NHL 2k10. Variety!!!

I beat the Penguins 3-2, grind of a game.
Penguins 2 goals, breakaway and undressed my goalie.
Then a wristshot top corner from the high slot by Crosby.

My 3 goals. Rebound from a slapshot that I netted under a desperate diving goalie.
Absolute hammer of a slapshot from the blue line, clean beat the goalie over the shoulder.
Powerplay wristshot from the point that was deflected 5 hole to be the eventual game winner.

Man was that FUN! Gonna have a few outside beers and come back to play game 2. Great work on these rosters and Venom thanks for resharing those sliders. Great stuff

I have retweaked the goalie ratings. Fleury for example is necessary. Many difference with other goalies i think. The cyberfaces is very fun similar at my rosters. And the database in general is excellent. This is my review by the moment. Great work friend ������

Sorry by the delay on my post. From last year my dad have serious healthy problems and sometimes i can't assign many time on the forum. Well , i will try to release a Trade Deadline Update Rosters based on your Rosters of course (if you like with your permission). And in them you'll see my vision of the goalie ratings ��
