I noticed that I can make different players overalls drop or raise quite a bit just by changing the player type and not any attributes. It would be nice to understand this calculation procedure.
How are overalls calculated based on player roles?

How are overalls calculated based on player roles?
Goalies and skaters have different types/roles on the game? Does anyone have any hints on how the overalls for players are calculated based on these roles?

Re: How are overalls calculated based on player roles?
From my understanding of 2K8, each attribute had a different weighting in determining the player's overall rating. It only takes a slight increase in Defensive Awareness to increase the player's overall rating by one point. But an attribute like Poise has to be increased by a huge amount before it affects the player's overall.
What I assume happened in 2K10 is that the weighting of each attribute changes based on their type, to favor the attributes you would expect a player to specialize in.Last edited by snowdrift; 06-28-2020, 08:42 AM. -

It would be nice to figure out this formula... I think I could probably brute force this by scripting I guess...
I'm just having too many ideas right now I need to finish something up before I start my next project... :PNow go play NHL Two K!

Re: How are overalls calculated based on player roles?
When generating new rosters I want to make them so that I can get good lines through default lines so I need to adjust stats based on the overalls to reflect that. Thats why I need this formula. If I get time over perhaps I can try brute forcing based on the player type and figure out more.
I would simply generate stats for all thirty teams setting a baseline of 75 or 50 for all attributes and put the same player type for all players then changing different attributes for all teams say Anaheim would only have changed agility from 0-99, Atlanta changed speed and so on. Then we could see how much effect each attribute has and also if I change player types how that effects overalls in different teams. Now go play NHL Two K!
