Re: The Pokemon Thread

Gonna try and revive a seemingly dead thread. Who plays? Surely we have some OSers who play Pokemon.

Re: The Pokemon Thread

I used to be HARDCORE into R/B/Y (a decade and change ago)....bought and beat G/S....then stopped. Just got silly to me. Did get SoulSilver though, and it's fun on long rides.

Now, Stadium is a different story. I beat the tar out of that game on a consistant basis.

Re: The Pokemon Thread

I played so much of Red and Silver when I was like 10, and that was when those first came out and Pokemans were the shiz.

I can't play the newer games, what there's like a billion Pokemon now?
I'll stick with the originals that I grew up with, thank you. I haven't played a Pokemon game in forever, but I may have to pick up Red again just for nostalgia.

Re: The Pokemon Thread

As a wee lad I loved those games, had all 250 on Gold version, and actually re-beat Gold on an emulator not too long ago.

My roommate has one of the newest ones, and I laughed at how bad these new Pokemon are. They've really run out of ideas. Plus, most of them look wimpy as hell.

Re: The Pokemon Thread

I was also a kid when Pokemon first came out.

I played Red, Yellow, Gold, and Silver.

I beat Red, Yellow, and Gold.

A couple years ago, I bought Fire Red and played it a bunch, for nostalgia purposes, but I never think about having it. I'm 21 now and not a little kid, but I think it's stupid to think less of anyone for playing it still. It's an awesome game.

I had the cards and the games.

Re: The Pokemon Thread

Safe to assume a lot of us were just kids when they first hit stateside. I remember playing the crap out of Red and then didn't touch another until the like 2008.

I was sitting around work with a bunch of my friends and we started talking about Pokemon and we all went out and got a certain version of the game. I was Fire Red all the way. Played that for while then got bored. I got Heartgold as a gift and played it casually. I work at a job where I have about as much down time as I want so the DS works wonders here. Just started Black a couple days ago.

The loyal side of me told me not to play it, but there is still something fun about the same Pokemon style of gameplay. It's not as second nature as it was before with all the Pokemon being different.

Re: The Pokemon Thread

I beat Red, Blue, and Yellow and made it pretty far in Gold and Silver. I haven't played any of the newer ones...adding all the new Pokemon was one of the most idiotic things they could've done.

Re: The Pokemon Thread

I go in binges.

I'll go months and months where I don't play a Pokemon game at all. Then I'll get a craving and spend like a week doing almost nothing but that. Most addicting games in existence.
