Re: Rocksmith

Rocksmith is definitely a niche game. It will be interesting to see how much support it gains. I am not expecting much because of the sheer amount of time that is involved in learning to play the guitar. I think that will turn off a lot of people pretty quickly if they are not serious and committed to putting in the time. I always wanted to learn, and I saw Rockband 3 as my way of finally doing so. It was fun, but I found out rather quickly that I needed more of a foundation - hence the online lessons. As a result, I haven't really touched RB3 since I first got it.

Rocksmith suits me much better as a supplemental learning tool. I totally agree that learing guitar is all about maintaining interest. Rocksmith helps with that.

Re: Rocksmith

I definitely don't see a game like Rocksmith being anyone's only source for guitar instruction but if it helps, then great!

Check out the blog I wrote on learning guitar.

Re: Rocksmith

I've been interested in learning guitar ever since guitar hero came out. But since I can't read music to save my life, it's been pretty much impossible to learn. Might be asking for this around Christmas as well.

I don't know anyone that plays guitar and can actually read music. You use tabs on guitar which isn't that difficult.

Re: Rocksmith

Reading music isn't hard. It's actually very helpful as far as knowing what you're doing with music theory and what key the song is. Tabs will tell you what is being played, but that's it.

Re: Rocksmith

Borrowed my dad's extra electric acoustic today. Mentioned the game to my brother last night who has no interest in video games. Wants to go half and half

Pawn shop. They are bound to have some kind of electric guitar or electric acoustic for under $100. I don't know a lot about guitars, but I would bet the one that it comes with is pretty decent and you getting a good deal with the bundle.

Check out Guitar Center too. I looked online and they had some electric for around $50.
