In time required for me to beat the Uncharted games, they ranked as follows:

Uncharted 2
Uncharted 3
Uncharted 1

I didn't go out of my way to find collectibles. If they were around I grabbed them, but I was just focused on playing through the story. I forget where I clocked in at each one, but Uncharted 2 definitely felt a bit longer than 3. Uncharted 1 didn't take me very long at all.
Uncharted 1 was one of the most tedious repetitive games I ever played in my life. I want that game to burn in the depths of hell.

Wow.....I actually enjoyed Uncharted 1 more than Uncharted 3 in which I quit halfway through and then played through from scratch a year later.

Uncharted 1 is the worst of the 3 just because the combat is so bad. The aiming controls are so floaty and the guns don't feel like they have any power behind them. Thankfully they tuned it better in 2 and 3 where the combat is more enjoyable. The enemies are still too bullet spongy though. The supernatural enemies in all 3 games have never been fun to fight. There wasn't as many in 3 which is probably why its my favorite game combat wise.

It's why The Last of Us is the best Naughty Dog game. In addition to the great story, there's less combat than the Uncharted games (which IMO is the weakest parts of the game) and when you do get into combat everything feels brutal, especially the melee weapons.

I enjoyed the shooting and combat in the original Uncharted. Back in 2007, it was by far the best game that year and playing through it at the time was like, I don't want this game to end. That's how much I enjoyed the game. The supernatural enemies is the one aspect that I hate in all of the Uncharted games.

Agree that The Last of Us is the best ND game. Stealth was a lot of fun. The melee combat was brutal. Mad Max has that brutality in the melee combat which is awesome.

A game being long doesn't mean its automatically repetitive or focused on grinding. You can have a long game thats also tight and focused like you want.

I don't want to sit here and start bashing Uncharted. They're good games, but they do have issues and they're fairly fresh in my mind because I played all three within the last few months.

Great post, I completely agree. I can't speak to the PS3 versions, but on the UC Collection all the games have the same floaty controls you're speaking of.

I had the same thought playing through TLoU recently, the best decision they made was to design the game in a way where gunfights are discouraged. Just seems like Naughty Dog for whatever reason isn't that great at designing the combat parts of their games.

Re: UNCHARTED 4: A Thief’s End

Based on the stress test beta, I'll be buying this just for the multiplayer alone. Could care less about the sp experience or the story.

Hopefully it gets delayed a bit to give me more time with the Division.

The little time I had in the stress test multiplayer beta was a much better experience than sw battlefront.

Got a chance to run with some friends over the weekend and had a lot more fun than I did in the first beta. The shooting felt better and it's just good times with a group. I did a ton of laughing playing that. I'd like it more with without the supernatural special ability and just the helpers like the Brute and Sniper. It's whatever, though. I can deal with that.

I think you'd enjoy the campaign too. Uncharted really shines there.
