Elden Ring

I want to start this thread because Elden Ring is less then two weeks away.

The Souls games tend to be a bit niche, but they have grown in popularity over the years. I have been excited for Elden Ring since it’s world premiere at E3 back in 2018.

I’ve been keeping up on Elden Ring news and all signs point to this being a game for the ages. For those of you who haven’t played the souls genre, this might be the time to dive in.

Is this made to take advantage of next generation consoles or will it simply be an upgrade from PS4/XboxOne? If it’s made for both generations I’ll probably have to pass on it.

Can’t decide if I want to get this on PS5 or XBOX Series X. I know the PS5 will have dual sense, but I can play the XBOX version 16 hours earlier.

Review embargo ended at 10am EST. YouTube is flooding with reviews. Metacritic has it as a 96. Opted for the XBOX version so I can play at 8am EST tomorrow morning. I can’t wait! This will be my first FromSoft game.

Reviews are crazy good. 97 right now on almost 40 PS5 reviews.

My big concern is I HATE overly difficult games and repeating things over and over to try and get by. I won’t play Demons Souls or those types of games as a result. I really wish they would just add a difficulty level. It’s ridiculous not to have one imo.

Apparently there’s a lot of different ways to attack enemies. Also if you take your time leveling up in the open world, the boss fights will be much easier. If you try to rush through the game, then it sounds like it can get quite difficult.

Not sure if I’ll give this a shot. I love Bloodborne, though I’ve never beaten it. I’ve been stuck on the spider boss for like a year lol. Granted I play the game like once every few months, but still haha I haven’t figured out how to beat that boss yet. I love the aesthetic though and fast paced action. Sekiro makes me feel the same, I dig the fast paced action feel of it. I just started this a few week ago so I’m very close to the beginning still.

If this is slower like Demon’s Souls, it’s probably not up my alley. I’m happy for all of the From Stans though who have been waiting forever for this game.

I've played the Elden Ring network test and it is closer to dark souls speed than it is Bloodborne and Sekiro

Also I'm getting the game on both Steam and Playstation (wish it was cross play). If anyone needs help getting through an area, feel free to message me.

I read some reviews that indicate this might be the best open world game ever. Those are pretty strong words. But that's enough for me to buy.

Torn about whether I should get this for the PS5 or PC. PS5 would probably run better. But the possibility of mods may make me lean PC.

Same.

The world/lore looks intriguing but the only game I've played and liked where dying is considered "part of the fun" is Hades.

Most of the people I know who like FromSoft games also enjoy games like Cuphead and it's just not for me. I've been made fun of for liking Ghost of Tsushima over Sekiro before and it's literally just a matter of preference rather than me claiming one is superior to the other.

After this one has been out a bit I think I'll be able to judge the mood of some people I know with different taste and I might try it but not at launch for sure.

I've beaten other FromSoftware games (Bloodborne and Dark Souls) and know that they put out quality, challenging games. Good to see that a bunch of the reviews confirmed to me that the game is good enough to pre-order and jump in immediately. Can't wait to get started.

Two hours in, I can already tell this is going to be an unreal experience. This is what open world is supposed to mean.
