    You're more than welcome.

I am actually glad to share my impressions because it certainly seems like almost everybody on the planet already put the game down by the time I finished my playthrough, lol.

One more advice, though. The one area where the game really shines outside of boss battles, are the side quests you can do for various NPCs you get to meet throughout your journey. The stories and fates of some of those NPCs, once you fully unlock them, are pure gold.

Those quests, however, as you correctly predicted, may be tough to follow, as the path to complete most of them is not exactly laid out in front of you, and some of them are even heavily intertwined, meaning you can easily lock yourself out of many of them at any time by taking seemingly insignificant steps or actions, many of them very early in the game.

So if you stumble upon an NPC that catches your interest, I strongly advise to google up the proper path for that NPC's quest. Polygon's walkthroughs, for example, do a great job with some of the most memorable ones. What I did, however, was to make sure I take each walkthrough one step at a time to avoid major spoilers and/or twists and turns. It's not completely avoidable, to be honest, but still well worth the risk.

However you choose to approach your playthrough, though, be sure not to miss at least Millicent (Iet me just say: O...M...G...), the Warrior Jar Alexander, and of course Ranni,
    Spoiler
though I am heavily biased here, as I literally fell in love with the girl from the first moment she appeared in the game.

    Good luck! [emoji846]

I’ve tried to get into this game but I’m just clueless as to where to go? I know the game is great but for me, it’s just so overwhelming.

When you bring out the map, some of the sites of grace you already discovered more or less vaguelly point to a certain direction. Different sites of grace, even in the same location (e.g. Limgrave), can point to different directions, though, meaning you can go one way or the other, and when you find out said area just being too much, simply run away and explore something else, or level up and come back stronger.

Also, once you beat the first legacy dungeon, the Stormveil castle, the all-knowing guy at the Roundtable Hold will give you some hints as to where to go next. Again, there would be several routes open to exploring, but you'll quickly find out yourself which one is, or not, a good idea - unless, of course, you're one of those guys who beat even the hardest bosses on default level with a club and no armor.

And when all of the above fails, you can always check out the internet for guides which cover the recommended routes. Many of them recommend more or less the same route, which kind of leads back to what I said above - you'll usually find out quickly enough that you're somewhere where you're not supposed to be.

And yes, it's overwhelming (the landscape, I mean), and honestly, you'll probably spend a lot more time exploring the maps than fighting/grinding bosses, unless you don't care about catacombs, caves, evergaols (which are insane fun, btw) and NPC quests and just go straight after the big guys.

Provided you actually already found a map (or map fragment, as they are called), of course. [emoji846]

              Re: Elden Ring

Well after I died roughly 15 times to Margit The Fell Omen I took a break and decided to call it a night, but something kept calling me back down to the cave. Well on my first try I succeeded.

I’m hooked now. I already know what my work day will be like tomorrow.

              Thanks for the tips.

                Re: Elden Ring

Really tried to get into this game but like the developers said themselves, it is definitely not meant for everyone and I will second that 100%.

Graphically this game is beautiful with about as much content in the world as I have ever seen in a title. I explored quite a bit of this game in over 10 hours of solid gameplay and fromsoftware did an absolute banging job making this feel like a living breathing world that at times can be overwhelming. Bravo.

Combat system…once the huge learning curve was conquered, is actually really good. Especially if you go performance mode (I am PS5) and lock in 60 FPS-ish. I can’t complain. I did half a million times before I figure out the way to do combat in certain situations like boss fights were clicking in the R3 stick to target lock the boss/enemy SMDH. If your new to this know there is some nice to know elements to gameplay you have to know and you will die a ton until figured out.

                Progression/goals/Bosses/level up/difficulty mode

Ok, this all encompassing group here is my biggest beef with this game. I already going into this game it would be grueling and time was needed, however this was ridiculous. My biggest reason this game gives me Tourette’s is, and the developers say admitting my they weren’t going to hand hold gamers, there is no dang guidance or “quest” to do the main storyline. You just GO. I never once knew my goal or direction. I don’t mind not mowing or discovering a world without a map. I get it…but hell I never knew what the hell I was supposed to be doing at any time. I was collecting things and left wondering, so I need this? Should I be here? Do I suck at this boss or am I supposed to be here in the first place? No direction or mission goal is not my cup of team at all and this paragraph alone toon me out of this game.

The progression and level up system isn’t my taste either. I feel like it takes 20 hours to get to a point where your taking on “normies” in this game with ease. Bosses, like M-****ing Commander O’Neil (screw that guy. Main reason why I deleted this game), are absolutely unbeatable if your not a veteran of this series or are in the beginning…yet you have to go through him after I got inadvertently teleported to Calia and it’s magical damn world. Again…Tourette’s activated. Just not really a fun place when your still in basic chain mail and scimitar swords (I was warrior class). Leveling up to deal with who you need to deal with takes way to long and is way more geared to those who don’t mind dumping in 100+ hours in a game where at some point, the rewards are awesome but you spend way more time dying than reaping said rewards. That isn’t fun. At least have a game difficulty to where it’s able to be enjoyed by those wanting to appreciate the game design and story while not having to sacrifice half the dang year to play it. The general consensus is, yea the end was rewarding but I died soooo many times to get through one boss, and it’s not even a hard one. Lol That is not remotely fun when you also don’t know what’s really happening, what your supposed to be doing, and oh by the damn way, don’t let scarlet rot get you! Lol Like a magical Oregon trail game this is.

This is my personal take on this. I know it’s not a ton but after dumping 10 hours into this I promptly deleted this game and took the $20 loss. Sad too because the game has some real beauty to it. I feel like this could have been way better for me if the developers would get over themselves and target a larger crowd who want to play but need a better experience. The crafting, magic, and weaponry is one thing. I don’t mind that aspect. But being a useles idiot getting his buns clapped for so long is not the way.

                Graphics 9/10
                Gameplay 9/10
Story ?/10 (was trying to follow it but WTF)
                Learning curve/User Friendliness/New user appeal 1/10
"Im all jacked up on mountain dew!"
" Im just a big hairy american winning machine"

                  Re: Elden Ring

Game is good enough to warrant lots and lots of disagreement & discussion, that’s for sure. I think its biggest strength is unquestionably in its raw adventure/discovery/wanderlust/exploration component, but I understand that’s been souls-games’ strongpoint from the beginning so it’s maybe slightly old-hat at this point.

My biggest complaint is that I consistently find the atmosphere lacking. It’s passable and even good but by no means is it THICK AF like I wish it was.

Kind of a cliche criticism nearly a year since release but I’d agree with those who’ve said this game could be a third the size but more focused and it would likely be much better.

Excellent game, great game even, but I think at the end of the day it’s a bit of a standard-fare 8.5/10 when juxtaposed with the rest of the soulsborne titles, and not really anything special.

It’s much more “Dark Souls 2 Part 2” than it is “Bloodborne+Dark Souls+Demon’s Souls” like it maybe should have been.
                  Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.
