The Top 10 Virtual Baseball Players of All-Time

Of all the retro top 10 or top 5 lists I have done here at Operation Sports, this was by far the most difficult. With today's modern games incorporating a myriad player ratings, the playing field has been somewhat leveled in terms of skill differetiation. There was a time, however, when baseball games contained players so dominant that they were outlawed for generations to come.

With spring training already upon us, I figured it would be a fun idea to take a look at the top vitual baseball players to have ever existed -- or been created -- in video games. My criterion when putting this list together was that each representative had to be so overpowered that all his opponents cower when his name is mentioned.

Zack Greinke deserves an honorable mention... his combination of 96 MPH fastball and 54 MPH curveball was untouchable in MVP Baseball.

How about the great Juiceball King from MVP 2005 - Jon Dowd! (aka Barry Bonds)

This was an excellent write-up that brought back tons of memories. Ron Gant took me by surprise but he was really good in MLBPA Baseball. Have not played that game since 1993 and had loads of fun playing it. Griffey is my all-time favorite baseball game and it would be sacrilegious to put anyone else as #1. That game holds up amazingly well 17 years after its release and is an iconic sports game.

What about "Lefty" from baseball stars....... I went yard constantly with him.

Tommy Euler from Hardball. Great pitcher....wasn't uncommon for Euler to hit 3-4 HR's in a game also.

I remember Mark McGwire and Andre Dawson being HR monsters in RBI Baseball.

Vince Coleman in RBI Baseball. Infield hits and stolen bases galore! Unstoppable.
