    Scouting: Physical

I am hoping for some clarification on the physicals tab on the scouting card.

I believe the RATINGS are a position specific and provide the true indicator of the attribute range. I then want to say that the testing numbers are more of a modifier to the RATINGS range? Just feel like the RATINGS are the absolute indicators of ratings and the testing numbers can almost be discarded. In the example, great acceleration for a QB is 87-89 (Madden-School) regardless of the 20 yard short shuttle time.

Curious if I understand this all correctly. Thanks

I look for players that ranked in the top 10 in at least 4 out of the 6 drills. Players that ranked 1st-9th in all six drills are usually hidden dev trait players, regardless of round projection. Also, players with unique builds like a 6'2 355lb DT or a 6'3" 232lb WR tend to be hidden dev trait players as well, especially if they also meet the aforementioned drills criteria.

I guess my point is are the RATINGS absolute? Based on position, this rating (Good/Great/Elite) dictates the ratings spread as an absolute.

Just wish the RATINGS was labeled more like FILM STUDY and when combined with testing numbers created the potential rating spread. For example, if a player has film study speed as ELITE and then tests in the 4.3s the narrower the outcome in speed rating (93-96). Inversely, if the film study says speed is ELITE but the testing numbers are 4.5s then that range is wider (85-96).

Just feel like the testing numbers are almost useless based on the current scouting logic.

These posts will answer your questions:

https://www.madden-school.com/madden-23-scouting-guide/ - This has the breakdowns by position e.g. an "elite" speed for WR is different from an "elite" speed for a DT.

https://www.madden-school.com/madden...o-day-numbers/ - This has how the actual combine numbers reflect real speed stats. There is a little fog of war since there is some overlap but you can get a very clear picture on a guy's physicals from their combine numbers.

The scouting tools have the ranges for each physical attribute by position.
